Question about Computers & Internet
Screen black, will flash on for a less than a second if you put system in sleep mode, noticed when i pushed source button it will say no signal hooked up a old monitor and it works find so i know it is not the Hp pc suggestions???
Ktoll, Wow you will need to do a lot of surfing and a ton of reading to educate yourself as to why your monitor has the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH!! Yes, you too, with some research might possibly fix your own monitor if you know how to use a soldering iron. Or you may want to contract out the work to a monitor repair shop! But let me suggest that you find out the reason so many monitors of all brands are failing. Have you found out how to evaluate the state of the monitors "switch-mode-power-supply"? Here's what's going to happen to your monitor. The guy at the store is going to take your display in trade. You walk out with new wide screen lcd. But the store Technician will "crack open" your monitor and with a little luck remove a few "electrolytic filter capacitors" and install new ones, button the unit up and take it home or sell it for $40-$60. Well, when strange things start happening to LCD displays with "cold-cahtode-fluorescent-lamps" that only light -up for 1-2 seconds the very first place I would look is the SMPS. Read some of my other responses to get a better handle on "BSoD" problem. You may also want to visit youtube and watch a video of a LCD monitor being repaired for the same symptom as you're having. also visit FYI www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.net
I'm 12fixlouie on fixya. Bye for now.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
Please post back what you find.
