Question about Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator

1 Answer

I can't see the axes, and I've tried changing the window. They should be showing, and the trace accurately reflects ordered pairs, but the axes do not appear on the screen.

I am tryign to uninstall fix it, get error 5006

Installation or uninstallation of an application or game fails and gives the following error code:

This issue is due to a previous installation not finishing properly

Solution 1. Rename the Installshield folder

Make sure you've enabled Show hidden files and folders.

Find and rename the Installshield folder:

Windows 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Installshield

Windows 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Installshield

If there is an Installshield file in the Common Files folder, rename that one also (e.g. to Installshield_OLD).

Solution 2. Remove all traces of previous uninstall

If renaming the Installshield folder had no effect, find and delete any traces of uninstalled applications.

Applications that can assist you are: Revo Uninstaller, Windows Installer Cleanup Utility , CCleaner.

Alternatively, do a manual clean-up:

Close all running programs. Then clear the Temp folder (found via input of %temp% in Start > Search or Start > Run).

Use the Windows registry editor to delete registry entries related to the program.

Restart the computer.

hope this helps

Logitech M510 suddenly stopped working

What does the device manager say about the hardware?
It could be loss of the usb device controller. Windows XP is old and that is an indication that the hardware is old too.

I have an Advent PC running Vista Home Premium,made a recovery disk (which I've lost),and want to completely format the whole system back to the way it was when I bought it. Read somewhere to use...

My advice is that you really do not want a Windows Vista PC at all! Are you trying to get it back to how it was when it was new because it's become so slow that you can't use it? Yep, been there.
The best solution is to go to ubuntu.com website and find out how easy it is to upgrade to the Ubuntu free open-source OS. It will run your computer MUCH better than vista ever could. I have change several windows PC to Ubuntu and they are now much faster, and they don't slow down over time like all windows PCs do.
Trust me, you'll never look back.
PS Choose Ubuntu 10.04 version. It has the best free support.

Graphing Problems

In home folder (main calculator screen) press [Diamond][F2:Window]] to access Window configuration screen.
Press [F1] ( not mecessary now because the F1 page is open by default). In the F1 page of configuration screen set Xmin=-10,
Xmax=10
Ymin=-10
Ymax=10
Xscale=1.
Yscale=1.

OR
Press [Diamond][F2:Window][F2][6:ZoomStd] (Zoom Standard) to set all values as above.

If a graph is active (axes displayed, or part of a curve is showing) press [F2:Zoom][6:ZoomStd]

When graphing, zs standard will not let me go to (1,0) or (0,1). Neither the y - axis or x-axis has a 1 value. when you bring the cursor to the line it only gives decimals.

Hello,
Thw zoom standard uses the default window which means Xmin=-10., Xmax=10, Ymin=-10, Ymax=10. Whenever you press ZoomStandard, it reset the window to the values, above.
You can set window dimensions to any reasonnable numbers, you can display the axes, you acn display the name of the variables (x, y). You can also set the Xscale and Yscale factors. If Xscl = 0.2 you will have a tick mark on the Xaxis, at each multiple of 0.2. The same is true for Yscale =0.2.
As to reading values on the graph, you have a much more precise way of doing that than trying to interpolate between two tick marks. Use the Trace function. You can make the cursor move along the curve drawn: The TRACE displays the values of the X and Y variables of each cursor position.

Hope it helps.

Hello,
Reset calculator to defaults
[2nd][MEM][7][2][2] Defaults set.

[Y=] on line Y1= enter your function then press [GRAPH]
You can draw several graphs on the same screen.
If nothing shows (except the axes) use [ZOOM] to Zoom in or zoom out or use [WINDOW] to change the values of Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Ymax.

I need to find out how to graph fuctions and the derivatives using a cfx 9850gc plus ASAP

Hello,
Let us start wih the derivatives. To obtain the values of derivatives at points on a graph, you must set Derivative to ON
Press [AC/On] to trun calculator on. If you do not see the icons press [MENU], with arrows select [RUN] and press[EXE] . The screen clears.
Press [SHIFT][SETUP ] . The first few options must be set as follows
Mode : : Comp
Function Type : Y=
Draw Type : PLot
Derivative : ON This is the one to make derivatives visible
Angle : Rad unles you have to use degrees.
Coord : on if you want the x,y coordinates to be displayed
Grid : Off
Axes : ON to display x and y axes
Press [EXE] to save options. You are taken to [Run] screen.
Press [Menu] Play with arrows to select [GRAPH] and press [EXE]

You see a list Y1=, Y2= and so on
On the line Y1=, enter [SIN] [X,Theta, T] .
If function is complicated you may have to enter parentheses sin(X). When you finish to enter the functions you want to draw, hit [F6:Draw]
The graphs are displayed.
Press [F1:Trace] The trace function allows you to move cursor along the curve, while it displays the coordinates of the cursor. And since you set Derivative to ON, the trace displays also the value of the derivative of the curve at the position of the cursor.

There are other intersting tools, under [Sketch] and [G-solve ] such as minimum, maximum, tangente, inverse of the function drawn, integral under the curve, intercepts with the coordinates axes, etc. I will not spoil your fun by giving you the plot of the movie.

Hope it helps.

Epson LQ -590 PRINTER PROBLEM

  1. You text page is larger than the printer page,
    margins are set wrong, or there are special
    formatting marks and/or characters at the end
    of your documents.

  2. Check default printer paper-size settings:

    START --> Printers & Faxes -> Chose printer -->
    right-click --> properties --> ....

    This sets the default settings, that are in effect every time
    an application starts up.

    Also note, that if printer settings are not listed within
    your START menu, you can find them in the Windows
    control panel. You can change what shows in the
    START menu and what doesn't by right-clicking the
    task bar.

  3. Now start your application and do the same thing under
    the file menu:

    File --> Print --> Settings ...
    File --> Printer settings ...
    File --> Page setup .... and also margins. etc...

    This sets the actual settings for this application or the
    current document. These settings over-ride the global
    default setting in item (2)
  4. To clarify, the settings in item (2) should be setup to
    reflect the way you use the printer the most often.

    The settings in item (3) reflect the actual document you
    are trying to print now.

  5. Be careful that the paper size settings (3) accurately
    reflect the paper in the machine, do not confuse
    metric sizes: A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 ....

    with English sizes: Letter, Legal,..... etc

    These do not line up exactly.

  6. Also check your document, to make sure that there
    are no extra characters at the end of your document:

    Paragraph marks, Page Brakes, Form Feeds, etc.

    Also check the paragraph settings (in Word for Windows,
    for example, to make sure that is not the cause of the
    problem.

    In word for Windows, for example, you can also go
    into tools, options and change the way your document
    is displayed, such that all formatting marks become
    visible (or click on the paragraph tool)

  7. Finally, most Windows applications offer some kind
    of print PREVIEW facility, so that you can see what
    you are going to get, before you physically print it.

I hope this solves your problem, please rate my answers.
Good luck.
