IF the jammed paper tears and you cannot remove the paper either from the paper output slot or from the transport unit, or the jammed paper remains inside the machine, remove the paper following the procedure below.
1. Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.
2. Open the paper output cover.
Remove the paper on the front tray if any.
Do not touch the clear film (A). If the paper or your hands touch these parts and blot or scratch them, the machine can be damaged.
3. Make sure that the FINE cartridge holder does not hang over the paper.
If the FINE cartridge holder hangs over the paper, move the FINE cartridge holder to the right edge or the left edge whichever is easier to remove the paper.
When you move the FINE cartridge holder, hold the FINE cartridge holder and slide it slowly to the right edge or the left edge.
4. Hold the jammed paper with your hands.
If the edge of paper is jammed near the paper output slot, pull the edge of paper to the position where you can hold it with your hands.
5. Pull the paper slowly not to tear it, then pull the paper out.
6. Make sure that all the jammed paper is removed.
If the paper is torn, a piece of paper may remain inside the machine. Check the following and remove the piece of paper if it remains.
7. Close the paper output cover, then reload the paper.
All print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

Check the print head's position. In the example photo the print head is positioned at the left hand side of the platen area.

The problem is normally on the exit sensor. Please check the exit sensor if its in the right possition. If the exit sensor is in the right position, also check the registration sensor if its sitting in the right position.Normally the problem is that the sensors (either the 'exit ' or 'registration' sensors) will be not in their correct position. If the two sensors are ok,there should be a small paper lleft in the machine
Some printers have a certain paper height or paper load you can have loaded at one time. I would try loading a smaller amount of paper and see if that helps. If it still does the same thing your paper thickness lever may be damaged.
ok what you have done is when you have pulled the paper jam out you have either still have a small piece of paper over the sensor or you have broken the sensor itself it sounds like the later, most people tend to pull out the paper backwards against the feed rollers and sensors just below the feed rollers and it causes the sensor to fall out or break i have seen this so many times,
Remove the right hand side cover of the printer, (loosen the two screws, one is at the back).... see the small stepper motor at the top right? Rotate the white gear teeth connected to it, just visible, DOWNWARDS, ANTI CLOCKWISE, using a blunt screwdriver or something, a few teeth at a time, this will eventually rotate the fuser roller and the paper will come out of the bottom of the fuser.
I would say that you have a paper jam or maybe you did have one & pulled the paper out backwards & you may have damaged the little paper switch right down the bottom of the paper slot if thats the case you will need to take it to a proper repairer
