By stating "take the set apart", are you saying remove
the DVD player because it does not appear that is an option. There are seven screws around the rear edge of the set.......?

Thanks, one last question, how long should it take to complete, & what would be the typical $$ charge be for this?

The information was very helpful, thank you.

Try unplugging the set for at least 2 minutes then trying the eject button again. If that doesn't work then you will have to take the set apart and manually extract the disc.

Yes, the only way to get to the DVD player is by taking off the entire back of the TV. It sounds tough but not too bad although I suggest taking it to a TV technician to remove the disc for you. You can then replace the defective DVD drive if it still doesn't work. Here is a link for a site to order the DVD drive from...

From my experience on working on these combo TV/DVD's it shouldn't take more than an hour of a technicians time. The cost will depend on their hourly rate. Shop around for the part and see what the lowest cost you can get it for. The reason I say that is you won't have to pay a shops mark up for the DVD mechanism is they order it for you. I hope all of my information helps...

This definately is hardware issue.
2 options for you.
1. open the screen and check if the signal cable to lose. if you can out it in right place you can fix this onyour own.( I would recommend this only if you have prior experience in troubleshooting laptop hardware)

2. otherwise see the hardware vendor.

Try removing the top cover, very often if the DVD is not in the tray it will be accessible to retrieve once the cover is removed.

Two DVD's stuck in Toshiba Regza with built-in DVD player

If you can find a piece of stiff wire, put a small 90 degree bend onto one end and try to hook the edge or middle of the DVD drawer and pull out the drawer. It will resist a bit but should come out.

DVD stuck in tv combo unit

Had same problem! Husband took back off tv, lots of screws, unscrewed the dvd player and turned it over. There is a white wheel, turn that slowly. It opens and closes the dvd "tray". He turned it until DVD came out. Tried another DVD but no good. Had only used the DVD once since owning tv. Won't use it again.

In the past we would not buy combo units. Won't ever again!!!!

Toshiba 20hlv15 image turns bright colors and will sometimes disappear.

I took the unit completely apart and reassembled it, making sure to check all harnesses. I have been running the TV since I put it back together and it has been fine so far (3 hrs.). I was hoping that it was just a loose harness4.gif when taking the unit apart. Although, I did not note a loose harness. The dvd1.gif player went wacky by just having the harness slightly off. I will run the unit some more and post my findings. I have to say I'm surprised that this is not a more common problem considering there are numerous people with this particular unit with the same issue. Also, just a note the unit was very clean inside, no dust issues, no blocked cooling ducts.
