Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions
You don't give much in the way of details... How long does it stay on? Long enough to give a picture and audio?? Or maybe 10- 30 minutes?
If it only comes on momentarily, not even long enough to give video, then it could be going into Hi-voltage shutdown, probably indicating an overvoltage condition. This could be caused by a voltage regulator failure. Troubleshooting this is best done by a qualified technician.
If it stays on for several minutes, maybe even 30 minutes or so, then goes off, bad solder connections might be the culprit. A modest whack or bump on the side or back of set might confirm this. Whack it... if set dies, you likely have a bad connection problem. If you have good eyes, a solder iron and solder, and know how to solder, then you might be able to find the bad connection(s) on the chassis. Common locations for this are in the horizontal deflection, power supply or vertical deflection portions of the circuit.
