Question about KitchenAid Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDS01FLSS2. I finished replacing the door balancer cord and started the dw up and it started leaking underneath from the bottom somewhere around the middle of the unit. This is when it first enters the cycle, so there is no water inside. I pulled the DW out and look at the hoses and components under the DW and all looks in good shape and could not detect any cracks. However noticed that one of the hoses (not sure what the hose is called) that connects to the very underneath side to what I believe is the water pump (next or offset to the motor). Anyway, this corregated plastic hose is connected with a plastic bracket that contains a rubber O ring. Could this be the source of the leak and is it a common problem. There is only one screw holding the plastic bracket and it seems to be rather fragile in that it would be rather easy for it to break its seal. What do you think.

In this Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDS01FLSS2, the whole motor and water pump assembly simply sits (I think loose) in the bottom of the DW. From the inside, it is the round mechanism where the sprayer is mounted above the chopper, all one piece sitting in (or mounted with) a large rubber washer around it. Somehow this assembly had lifted up slightly on one side which allowed the water to just poor through the bottom floor of the DW. I simply pressed down on the whole mechanism positioning back in its proper place. It did not take much pressure at all to position it back into its place. This stopped the leak and is working like a charm.

My kitchenaid DW kudc101xwho will not stay on. Runs a few min and shuts off. Is this the control panel or the timer?

May be this is the reasons.

a) May be your door latch is opening due to pressure inside the dishwasher. The door latch opens and the dishwasher will stop. Quite common problem on KITCHENAID. KitchenAid door is a heavier door compared to sister product WHIRLPOOL. If door latch problem then has to change the door lock along with the top latch.

Frigidaire dishwasher GLD4050RHS leaking

Ok//// believe it or not this is an easy fix. Choose plan A or B.

Plan A cost $175 Have me come out and replace the rubber strip around the door frame.

Plan B cost $0.00 + Elbow grease Get a pail of hotter water and a dish cloth [ no soap is needed ]. Open the door of the DW and Look at Black rubber trim. See how that trim is covered with a white substance or film. That is built up from wash cycles and dried on there. Work the wet rag over this until it is black again. Also wash the door where it comes in contact with the black gasket. This completes the seal. Wash it as well. If you can do this, it wont drip on your floor. It has nothing to do with any other part of the DW. It is a simple fix, but needs effort.

Kenmore DW model #665 16023403 will not turn on. There is power to the DW but the panel does not light up. Checked circuit breaker. Door tightly shut and latches. Just 3 yrs old. Would love to fix myself....

The electronic control panel should be replaced and cost about $240. It is easy to remove and replaced --- pull and plug like a standard elect plug, only its flat.

This definitely works.

Very squeaky hinge on main loading door- I think caused by vibration of the plastic pulley that guides the cord attached to the spring that balances the door

I just finished fixing mine. I tried WD40 on everything that moved, but it did not help. In fact, it was worse, After reading the reply above,I wiped off/cleaned the cord and put on a lubricant such as Lubriplate grease and it totally stopped the squeaking.

Our Kitchenaid KUDS01FLSS6 dishwasher door string broke, but unsure what I need to pull apart out to replace?

The "STRING" is referred to as a LINK. The link has a plastic connector glued to each end. It is common for the plastic to get brittle with age (even less than 5 years) or the nylon cord to wear down and break. That is why you see the frayed cord. You have to pull the dishwasher out to fix the problem. I had to order my link online because parts store in my city didn't have it in stock. Go to the Kitchenaid website to and key in your model number to get the parts schematic for your dishwasher. Under Customer Care, go to Locate Manuals and Guides, key in your model # and click Go. At the bottom of the web page you'll see Parts List. Click on the link and this pdf pops up: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208194009.pdf.) From the schematic you can find on page 7 "Link, Door Balance" which is #24 part 8535568. The spring hooks on to the back of the dishwasher frame and runs parallel to the floor. The Link end with the round hole attaches to the spring and the other end slips/hooks over the bracket arm that is attached to the door. Good Luck

WATER RUNNING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY DISHWASHER AFTER THE FIRST CYCLE

Since if did not begin to leak during the DW filling, we can rule out the inlet hose and solenoid valve.

When water leaks from underneath and not from the door, the most common failure is the seal between the DW tub and the wash pump/motor. Replacing that assembly would be the way to repair that problem.

The other possibility is that you have a rusted or broken tub enclosure which is leaking directly through the bottom. Replacing the dishwasher would be your best option then.

Good Luck!

I have a Zanussi Fitted dishwasher and I notice that the board under my kitchen seems to be getting black,I think it is the dishwasher leaking water from underneath.. Is there any common problems with this...

Yes sounds like some kind of water leak. Take of the front plinth and check underneath the units and DW. I presume you DW is adjacent to the sink so please cheak all pipes including waste asap. Also opening the DW door whilst it is running can splash water, over a period of time this could effect wood material and cause your problem.

Kitchenaid DW door spring

The door hinges are spring-loaded. One or both hinges have failed.
Items 2 and 3 at the link below are the parts that are needed.

I am not aware of a service manual posted on the internet.
Hope this helps! Please post back with what you end up doing, OK?

I have a kitchenaid superba diswasher that one of the door hinges has either popped off or broken. I need instruction on how to get into the door to replace it. Model KUDS01FLSS2

what you need to do is unscrew the screws at the top of the dishwasher that's securing the unit to the countertop. gently pull the d/w out from underneath the counter.. please be careful because you may have a copper water line connected to the d/w. if so, then you must remove the line because the copper does not allow you to move the d/w around without the copper line beginning to leak. if you have any other line you can maneuver ok. also, check to see if the electrical line is long enough. if not, secured the power and disconnected the electrial line. when you have all of the restriants out of the way, then pull the d/w out and reconnect the springs. you have 2 spring configurations. you can look at the other side that's not broken to see how to put the other side on. usually only 1 side breaks. you'll need to order the string that connects the spring to the plactic figure 8. take a look at each side and you'll see what im taking about. thanks.
