The amptron monitor will flick on for a split-second (long enough for me to momentarily see the desktop) with the center power (green light) lit...for a split-second. then its off for a few (3-5) seconds....

90% of the failed LCD monitors are due to bad capacitors (bulging top/seal, or leaking) in the power supply, or bad solder joints, etc.. You can look for them first. Please see the pictures here to see what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Please post back so we can guide you further and it will help other people also.

Shadows around the objects

One common cause of ghosting is an inferior monitor cable. Remove any extension cables and check again. The monitor may be getting interference from another device nearby, such as a printer, for example. Try turning off/ disconnecting other devices and see if the ghosting disappears. If so, you could buy a better shielded cable, or rearrange your components to prevent the interference.
That would be a simple fix if it works....

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Amptron monitor driver

I don't think this monitor needs a driver for WinXp.

Shadowing of text

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE EFFECT OF GHOSTING.
iT CAN BE FIXED

cREATE A 1200X1600 100% WHITE .GIF TO USE AS A SCREEN SAVER. (IN WINDOWS YOU CAN ADD IT TO MY PICTURES SLIDESHOW)

Set this slide show to run after 2 minutes of non use.
Set the nonitor to power off in a short amount of non use.
say 15 minutes.
Do that for a couple of days and the ghosting affect will go away . You can then turn to a more reasonable screen saver.

Problem with monitor

Shadow after text is usually caused by an impedence or termination issue. If you have a multimeter, check the VGA connector pins 1 2 3 (R G B) vs GND should be 75 ohms. If not, cable is damaged or poor quality. Try a new VGA cable, should cost $5+
If the edge of the text is wavy, there is too much jitter in the signals coming from the graphics chips. No fix possible.
If the edges of the characters are lumpy, then the panel has a cheap A/D converter, try using it in DVI mode instead (white-white connectors instead of blue).

Ghosting image after 3 years of perfect operation

ghosting is a memory problem, the monitor has a memory chip this helps with the video rendering to display the image, the chip can over time become damaged like any other memory chip, its its read use delete type but some times it can take longer to delete this then gives you the ghost shadow. it can sometimes be the software glitching, but there is no way to fix the firm wear on the monitor as the chip is pre programed before the monitor is assembled.
