It sounds like the switch contacts are stuck together, If I were you, I would fit a new door switch.
Please leave feedback.
Thanks.

Our electric convection oven heats up and when you open the door and close again it no longer heats, fan stays on and the light goes on when door open and off when door is closed, any ideas?? Thanks

Hi, You can look at the micro switch on the oven door, sounds like it might have been installed on a normally open auxiliary rather than a normally closed aux. hope this helps

GE JKP28 oven light is always on

It is possible the relay for the light on the control board has welded points. A door switch could be bypassing the control. keeping the light on when the door is closed. Hope this helps.

Oven light will not turn off

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Does the light shut off if you push the door closed slightly ? Or if you push the door switch closed manually. It is located on the grill of the oven...i.e.

Let me know, if so the door hinge needs adjustment. If not, it may be a control issue.

I'll watch for your reply.

I was able to clear the locked door message, and get over working following steps above, but cannot get the lock mechanism to release, and therefore cannot close the door

Check out these steps at the following link... http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10004586.htm

Range - "LOC DOOR" flashes in the display

If "LOC DOOR" is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control:

Motorized Switch
    1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel.
    2. Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed.
    3. While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps.
    4. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds.
    5. When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it.
    6. Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear.
    7. The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service.
Manual Switch
    1. Press the Clean pad.
    2. Close the door.
    3. Slide the latch to lock the door.
    4. Hit the cancel button immediately.

Most of these I have seen have to have the hinges and recievers replaced to get the doors to close properly and keep the light off.
