Question about Dell UltraSharp 1907FP 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Dell LCD power up issue

My 19" Dell LCD Ultrasharp monitor has an intermitent issue with powering on. When I start up my computer, green light comes on and the screen works for about 5-10 seconds and then powers off. Usually all I have to do is restart the computer and the screen will work again. This morning I tried restarting 5 times and the monitor will not stay powered on. I had this exact same problem with my last Dell 17" ultrasharp LCD monitor with this same CPU and ended up throwing the monitor away and getting this 19" one. Could it be a weak internal fuse or is it the power supply. If someone has suggestions on the repair, please let me know how hard is it for a novice like me to repair. Thank you.

I did a little more troubleshooting and I believe that the issue may be with some sort of Power Save issue with the monitor. The screen looks as it if automatically shuts off after the Bios and Windows screens. I shut the power strip off for a while and then turned the computer back on and the screen came on automatically (as it always does) and then stayed on. I guess if I do not shut off the computer - there is no issue.?

Hi,

I suggets you try your Monitor with another pc and see if its behaving the same if the same then the monitor is bad
Now if there is change ie its showing on the other PC then your pc VGA card is faulty or is not seated correctly on its slot pls check this,
Also swap VGA cards this how you will know its status .

Last get another VGA card

Good luck

You don't have a short-circuit. That would have blown the protections or even the monitor. Refer to the manual, that flashing light may be a code that tells you the problem. I don't think the repair would be expensive...

It is probably either a CCFL back light issue inside the LCD or a set of capacitors on the inverter/power supply board.
Would you be willing to part with it ?

It totally sounds like the backlight is toasted. If that is the case you will have to replace them. Normally if the power inverter is shot, the monitor will power up briefly at least and then shut off. If you can use a flash light and see some sort of image on the screen you know that your VGA chipset works however your backlight(s) are burnt out. If not, more than likely your power supply (power inverter chipset) is broken and needs to be replaced..
