Question about Hotpoint RGB745 Gas Kitchen Range
Hello. Thanks for choosing Fixya! First of all you clearly did the right thing by having the gas company come by. Most likely the safety valve on your stove is defective and needs to be replaced. The safety valve is supposed to prevent accidental gas flow.
Here is the other issue. In home repairs have become so pricey once any thing is out of warranty that it is always a judgment call as to what to do. The new gas stoves are much more efficient than the models of 5 years ago, they are much better when it comes to baking with uniform results, etc. etc. etc. There fore, you could call a few appliance repair shops and get estimates, which would allow you to make a more educated decision about whether to repair or replace. Best regards, J.
