Question about Bugaboo Cameleon Jogger

1 Answer

Hi, I have a bugaboo cameleon, the brake wasn't working on it as like all other peoples problems, it was forced back instead of using the button. However, I've taken off the lever, cleaned all around like mentioned on another forum and put it all back together, only problem now is that it doesn't sit correctly and every time you press the button the whole lever system pops out. Any ideas anyone??? It's no longer under warranty and really annoying!

Hi,

Personally I would suggest that you purchase a new brake assembly from www.bugaboo.com. These are quite cheap and very easy to install.

I hope this helps.

I have a bugaboo wlth the white colour brake and have just found out that the white colour ones are out of date. my question is does anybody know if i can get it changed over to the red one and how much...

Bugaboo don't sell parts as such but they sell the chassis. It will coat you around a third of the price of a new Bugaboo. The new Red brake lever chassis has the lever extension handle locks instead of the wing-nuts and rocker style buttons for the handle release. Your old frame will be quite sort after on eBay. I like the rocker handle release and the extension levers are quick to use and look better but I must warn you the old wing-nut system held the handle better and if you bump down a lot of stairs the new lever system is more prone to slipping, macnutz_16.jpg

My Bugaboo Cameleon break is not working properly. . .

Hi maristel5679. I had the same problem. It's quite easy to fix yourself. There should be a small philips type screw holding the whole assembly onto the frame. Undo this and you will see the inner workings. You just have to realign the ratchet inside. Do this by taking off the whole thing. Be careful when you place it back on the frame as it could slip out of line again because of the tension in the brake line. Undo the tension by slackening the brake screw. replace the hand-brake, tighten the philips screw, then remember to tighten the brake back up. Hope I explained this clearly!! Good luck.

The brake button on my bugaboo chameleon is jammed and won't release therefore the brake won't work , what an i do

Hi,

Your best bet is to contact www.bugaboo.com for a brake assembly replacement. If the break is permanently in the 'on' position, then gently push it forward (as if to put in on) whilst pushing the white release button, this should release the mechanism. If this is still within it's warranty, see your retailer for help.,

I hope this helps.

My bugaboo cameleon's break no longer works. It

Hi,

There are two ways of solving this. You can either contact the retailer where this was purchased for repair under warranty (if this was of course a fault and under two years old) or you can contact Bugaboo for a replacement brake assembly kit. This is very straight-forward to replace yourself.
www.bugaboo.com - if you go via Bugaboo themselves, they will require your purchase information, colour, serial number etc.
I hope this helps.

The lock on the brakes of my bugaboo cameleon doesn't work.

I just repaired my Bugaboo Chameleon brake. If the white brake lever doesn't "lock" i.e stays in its forward position, locking the brake you need to disassemble the brake handle housing. Open the black plastic cover by unscrewing the two screws. The handle should come off with a little tweaking. Remove the brake wire. The "button" where you are supposed to release the brake is actually a sort of cogwheel that stops the lever from springing back. Sometimes the cogwheel gets too pushed in the handle. You can tell if it has done so by observing the 8 small grooves that are out of place. Simply take a small flat object like a flat screwdriver and pry the button out. It should pop out as it is spring loaded. Now put it back in its position but TURN IT so it fit in the grooves. Put it back in the black handle, by reversing the disassembly process. Easy!

Brake does not engage

the brake disengages using the button. if it is forced the mechanism slips. its fairly straightforward to take it apart with a screwdriver. clean the plastic parts, put it back together right and screw it back on. then all you need to do is show granny how to work it (again) to prevent it happening again.
