To fix the mouse buttons, you will need to replace the palmrest assembly.

As for the speed, several things can effect the speed.

  1. Lack of Hard drive free space (10% of the drive is the minimum space for normal windows operation)
  2. Too small swap file
  3. Lack of MEMORY
  4. Overheating due to improper cooling (Fan not turning normally, heatsink has back contact etc)

Hi, I haven't got a Dell but try this site for the USB driver that is missing. With XP there is no support for USB2, an updated driver is required. Did you download the drivers from Dell? If not, that could be why as they may be old drivers.

Dell latitude c840 slows same time fans come on, approx. 4-5 minutes after start-up. Ran laptop in cool, not cold environment; no noticable improvement.

have the unit cleaned out good...if problem still exist your laptop may be on its way out

the slow down is due to a drop in power available to the processor, and this can damage it beyond repair.

Dell C840 no power is there is a fuse?

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the following

1) Ensure the fuse in the socket has not blown,
2) Try to obtain a replacement power lead to ensure the lead is not faulty

I would not recommend that you open the Laptop as only qualified engineer's should carry out this work

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Dell latitude 820 mouse driver

Whne you double click on the mouse in device manager, does it say "device not configured" or "unable to start this device". If it says "unable to start this device" try the mouse on a different computer to make sure it works properly. If it does then you probally have a software driver problem. Try contacting the mouse manufacturer or see if you can down load drivers from their site.
