The battery door hook which is situated on the body is broken. It seems the hook (latch) is molded on the battery compartment (body) How can I fix this. I am fond of this camera and I have the full accessory set (lenses and filter). I dont like to go to another type. Thanks

I have the spare part you need. If the latch on the door is broken, No problem, if the catch on the plastic frame inside the camera is broken, that is part of the main chassis and is huge work to replace without just replacing the entire chassis. May I suggest 2 small rare earth magnets? One glues to each side of the closure, should keep door closed as the hinge spring holds the door closed and the catch keeps it from being opened by the operators right hand when taking pictures.

very clever. may be able to do that with more permanent metal corners from a box, but that should do nicely.

If you have all of the pieces, you can use crazy glue to make the repair, otherwise take your camera to any camera shop where they will have access to whatever broken components need to be replaced. Regards, Joe

The battery door hook which is situated on the - fa977bbd-3d53-4f0c-b579-15f5ca5f7fcd.jpg

I took wire from a small paper clip, drilled some holes in the camera body, formed the wire and glued it into the holes with super glue. I admit it was a bit fumbly, but it definitly works. A magnifying glass makes work much easier. Any questions ? send me a mail: obidoc@freenet.de

SONY DSC-W800- Memory card door flops open very easily. Is there a replacement spring, door, or part combo that I can buy to remedy this?

Carefully inspect the door latch mechanism (you may need a magnifying lens) for dirt, wear, or broken tabs. If you're lucky, all you would have to do is pick out dirt or lint with a pin or cotton swab (I recommend removing the battery before cleaning operations).

If the latch is worn out or a retainer tab is broken, your options are limited to salvaging parts from a similar camera (lots of taking apart and reassembly work), fabricating and gluing on a replacement piece, or using a strip of tape to hold the door closed. The tape could be Velcro loop with a strip of adhesive-backed hook material on each side of the compartment door..

Door latch

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Open Lever If the microwave door won't open the open lever might be broken. This part can be replaced separately.

Door Spring If the microwave door won't open the door spring may have broken. The door spring is located inside the door and keeps downward pressure on the door hook.

Door Latch If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

Button Spring If the microwave door won't open the button spring might be broken internally. The button spring can be replaced.
Button If the microwave door won't open the button might be broken internally. The button can be replaced.

Handle Actuator If the microwave door won't open the handle actuator might be broken. This is a plastic part which can become brittle over time. This part is connected between the door button and the door latch assembly.

How to fix a door latch of Samsung SMH9207ST microwave?

The small tab on the latch broke so the spring was loose. Took my drill and drilled a small hole in the main body, ran a small wire tie thru it and hooked the spring to the wire tie. Works great and more durable than the orginal dinky hook.

Microwave door will not latch closed

I just had this problem with a Samsung microwave/hood combo. I pried/popped the inside molding out with a screwdriver. The little lip that the spring attached to had broken. I drilled a hole in the center of the door latch, reattached the spring, replaced in door, replaced inside decorative molding, and fixed in 5 minutes. Thank goodness because it's such a pain to replace these units.

The door that keeps the batteries and memory card will not stay closed. Can it be fixed?

Mine is broken also. There are 2 tabs in the cover and 2 raised slots on the camera body. When you open the battery compartment, you are supposed to slide the lid forward releasing the tabs from the slots, before the cover pops open. If you don't do this, you ~will~ break the tabs (or the raised slots). Well someone who didn't know this got a hold of my camera tried to force the compartment door open, breaking the raised slots that are part of the camera body.
Take a close look at yours and figure out how this latch is supposed to work and then see which part is broken. If it's the tabs on the door you can buy a replacement door online (do a search) and have someone good with electronics install it. (requires soldering). If (like me) it's the slots on the camera body that are broken, then it's not repairable. The original parts are too small and flimsy to be repaired (designed to fail). My best idea is to find some other way to latch the door closed. I've tried a velcro strap but it doesn't hold the lid tight enough and I've looked in hardware and craft stores for some kind of latch that might work, if I could atach it to the outside of the door somehow, but haven't found anything suitable (it would have to be small but sturdy and attach to the thin plastic of the door)
I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler because they work with very small parts and might have something that could be screwed into the plastic door and camera body.
If you know of a better fix, please let me know.

Broken latch on film door

Usually on this level Nikon it was a plastic "hook", part of the door moulding, that was retained by the latch mechanism in the body. The broken part may still be in there - if it is trip the latch and recover it with a tiny screwdriver or even a needle. If you can't find a replacement back door you can try welding the hook back in place with a low-temperature soldering iron - with the tip perfectly clean and a very steady hand - as long as the door is thermoplastic and not thermosetting. If that doesn't work bend a paperclip or similar to exactly the right shape with the free ends (roughened) long enough to extend into the plastic of the door by 4-5mm., heat the wire and push slowly into the edge of the door. There are many variations of this technique that I've used, all require extremely careful work! Best tip: spend more time thinking than doing. Good luck.

Sony Cyber-Shot Battery Compartment Door Broken

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :

Nikon Coolpix 2100/3100/3200 battery compartment door latch broken (again)

I just purchased a new battery door for $15 with shipping from nikon. They sent a simple assembly diagram and I was able to replace the door in 30 minutes. I used a dremel to cut the old door off, but you dont have to do that. I got a little impatient.

Just buy the plastic piece and u can reuse the metal parts for your old battery door.
