ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication

If you have a front loading machine,

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Kenmore clothes dryer squeaks loud to get going

Sounds like a bearing or the drive belt. Try turning the empty drum by hand. If it sounds normal you probably just need to replace the belt. If it make strange sounds when you turn it by hand then its probably the bearing.

The belt isn't a big deal but a bearing probably is.

GE 5 Cycle Automatic Heavy Duty Extra Large loud noise

All ge dryers have a center bearing on the back side of the drum and drum glides on the frontside. The glides make a scrubbing sound when bad and the drum is hard to turn. The rear bearing does a squeak thang when the plastic bearing wears thin and begins to make metal to metal contact between drum mount and rear bulkhead mount. It is an easy fix but the drum gotta come out. here is my pictorial page that shows how with videos and repair pix:

The squeaking noise is the result of this
1_6_2012_5_39_24_pm.jpegThing getting real thin to the point that the metal bracket it is in starts to rubbing. The most common one of these is the we3x75. But their are differing part numbers on these dryers. To replace this puppy you gotta remove the drum. It is not as hard as you might think. Pop the top by removing screws or using putty knife depending on your model:

Once you have the drum out the insert goes into the center bearing mount. If that puppy is badly worn you is gonna need to replace the whole bearing mount kit which is less than 30 bucks. Check the glides for wear and clean it up;

drum rollers/glides, may be that the motor needs to be oiled, in which case you will need to unplug dryer and drill a hole in the casing not to deep just to where it goes through the casing, then moisten the cotton fabric. Hope this helps Tim:

My dryer makes a loud noise when turned on seems to be comming from the back of the drum

Hello there: Here is the only things that noise could even beginning to come from so please read the entire list i have provided below Rear drum bearingSome dryers support the clothes drum in the rear with a center spindle instead of rollers. The spindle may be a ball-and-socket type support or a shaft through a sleeve. When the components are worn, they may squeak, squeal, or rub. You can't repair them. Just replace them when they're worn.
