Once or twice per day, water on floor below freezer door

Once or twice per day, about a cup full of water appears under the freezer door. It seems to be related to the ice maker.
It happens if the ice maker bar is up or down.
The water runs down the back of the freezer compartment and some of it builds up ice inside, but most of does not have time to freeze and runs onto the floor.

The drain is easily found by looking at the top of the compressor and the tube leads from the top of the motor into the back of the fridge.

Water on floor - french door refrigerator with freezer below

Yes the bottom compartment does have a drain opening but to see it you will need to remove the rear panel covering the evaporator inside the back wall of the freezer compartment. See item location number 11 on page 3 of the parts list. That will need to be removed so you can reach the drain inside the freezer compartment. The fresh food section also has a drain. Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Every day, some water appears on the kitchen floor. It appears to be leaking from somewhere in the freezer side of our side by side frig and freezer. Latter has automatic icemaker and water server in...

Your evaporator drain pan under the fridge may be misplaced. If so, simply pull out the unit and place the pan back where it goes under your box. Hope this helps!

Water in bottom of refrigerator coming from freezer (not really sure of the exact model as I'm not home to double check).

If water appears on the floor in front of the refrigerator once or twice a day, it could be due to a clog in the defrost drain tube. The usual evidence of a clogged drain in a side-by-side refrigerator is ice under the bottom basket in the freezer compartment, in addition to a puddle of water on the floor. Water leaks out of freezer once or twice per day

is there water frozen on the frezer floor.if yes your defrost drain is froze over.it only happens a few times a day because happening when its going into defrost, the water melts on the frezer evaporater then should go in the drain.if blocked it then runs on floor.you could turn of your refer for 8 hours or so.or get to the bottom of frezer behind back frezer panel[remove]and use a hair dryer to thaw drain use a weed eater line with a knott on an end to push thru and pull out the other side.the knott would clean any stuff in the drain line.ps watch out for water and electricty.i hope this helps God bless, tom

Kenmore freezer peeing on my floor

  • if the door was not closed correctly for a while then a lot of condensation will be accumulated on the freezer coils.
  • then when going into defrost it melts this ice/frost and overflows the pan or container under the machine which relies on evaporation to dispel  of the water.
  • empty the pan under the refrigerator if you can, then give it another day, it will get back to normal.
if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.

Leak

Is there ice build up under the bottom basket in the freezer??

sounds like the defrost drain is frozen up. especially since your cleaning up once or twice a day. simply defrost the drain and flush the drain line with warm water. you will likely have to remove the freezer cover inside the freezer compartment to do this.

if there is no ice build up under the baskets then its likely there is a leak in the water line for your water dispenser line that runs in the door. if thats teh case you will most likely need a service company to fix it for you..
