Question about Compaq (261671-001) Motherboard

1 Answer

Hi, My Compaq MS-6577 mother board, won't beep, won't boot. Tried switching RAMS, no help. Should I replace built-in video with a replacement? Also tried clearing the CMOS, no good either. Can anyone suggest anything ?

Replacing built-in video may not solve the problem. Make sure the right power is going into the board. You may try another power supply unit with only the cpu, monitor and ram connected to the board.

RAM Problem in intel D915GLVG mainboard

Most likely the pc400 hynix is incompatible with the mother board, or with the memory you are leaving in place. Try using just the pc400 sticks, if you still get system beeps then you are using incompatible memory. You should go to centon, or other memory manufactures wesbsite and look up what is compatible with the mother board and get that memory for the system. My bet is going to be pc3200 memory.

Hope this helps

Do you ear the fan running when you start?
if yes the graphis card might be dead. if you don't have a graphic card (on the mother board) CPU dead or mother board any way ...bad signs

ASUS A8S-X beeps sometimes on startup!

Hi 1 Long, then 3 Short Beeps: Video error The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen. Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. Remove your video card inspect it for damage and then re insert it. Try rebooting and see if the error remains. If so replace the battery on the mother board and try a different video card. If you have a video card built in then remove 1 srick of the RAM and re boot. Do the same with the other stick. If the error still remains then there is a fault in the Mother Board I hope this helps!
