Ok ...when it displays this massage you have missing system files or corrupted ones.....no matter if it asks for recovery cd ..its probably more than enough to insert a boot-able cd with th eoperation system you use...and than will ask for repair...anyway ..I recomand that you get a vista or Xp instaler cd ...( boot-able ) and proceed to reinstall the operation system ... if you do not have one ...just download an image ( ISO) and burn it with nero ..to make a bootable one ...I can transfer you such one for xp ...but Im not sure about your speed..and it will take some time ....( Im located in Europe )
so ...ask among your friends..and borrow one already made...or better get one with licence ..
coment here for any questions ...

by the way ...assuming that you have the drivers ...it will be easy to reinstall the devices..but if you do not ..you will need at least the sound and image drivers to start ...in case you reinstall the system ...if you just repair it ...it will probably have the drivers on .....but ..if you do not have the drivers ..let me know exact name of the devices ..and I will provide download links..

hey ...I forgot to tell you that you probably need a xp /vista on 64 if you want to restore the windows...this in case that you used one in the first place ...this doesn't mean that if you install a new one on 32 its not working ...just that there is a possibility that your system has been installed on 64 ..cause it has the capacity

You may try to insert the original operating system disc and fixing the boot process. Some computers do not offer an operating disc, thus you may have to use the Restore function. When booting, hit the F8 key and start up in the safe mode. Search for the Restore function and go from there. The problem is you did not state what version of Windows your using and it is difficult to navigate without that information.

Hi,
if you want to reinstall OS:
Insert the disk, it should automatically open the install.exe thing and you'll need to follow the instructions.

turn off your PC
keep pressing the key for boot menu it's F8 or F12 or F11 depending on the PC's manufacturer.
Then there will be either a boot menu or a "Do you want to do a system restore":
a) system restore, keep pressing the key and it will load. Then follow the instructions
b) if it's boot menu, insert the disk, and then select the option which says to load from the CD/DVD. Then follow the instructions.

Install an operating system

You need to change boot options in BIOS. Press required F key during boot. Look on the screen since Function keys vary with systems. In boot options make optical drive (CD\DVD) 1st. Save and reboot. You should get "Press any key to boot from CD". Note: Some systems have an ad-hoc boot option during startup. Thus eliminating the need for BIOS change.

I have a HP Pavilion Elite m 9357c that willnot boot up. The screen goes black and says Disk Boot Failure,Insert system Disk and press enter

If it happens that you are prompted by the following error message "DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER", "No system disk", it means that the computer did not find the operating system to start (boot).

Causes:

A diskette or CD has remained in the drive

Check out if any diskettes, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM are present in respective drives, remove them and restart your computer

The boot sequence is incorrect BIOS

Enter the BIOS setup of your computer and edit the boot (boot sequence) so that the computer starts primarily on drive C:
A new hard drive was installed

In the case that a new hard drive has been installed, this message is quite normal.
Just insert the correct CD to install the system (usually Windows), then restart, while making sure the CD-ROM is first in the defined in the BIOS setup as first boot sequence.
The hard drive is unplugged

Open the system unit and check that power cable of the hard drive is properly connected.
Corrupted system files

It may happens that some system files needed to boot the computer have been deleted /damaged or that the boot sector of the disc is damaged.

To determine this, start the computer with a system disk or CD-ROM installation of Windows (via the Recovery Console), and once started, type Dir C: to check if the contents of drive C: are accessible. If its ok then the problem comes from missing or damaged files, then you just have to run the command:

fdisk /mbr
sys c:

Note that before any restoration of the boot sector with the command fdisk / mbr, (supposing that there is a virus), it is recommended to use an antivirus running under DOS, such as
f-prot.

Damaged disk

If the hard disk or a partition is damaged:
If it detected in the BIOS setup, there is a chance that it is
not out of service.
If it is, try reinstalling the system through the installation CD, in order to reformat or recover the partition using a utility.

System restore disc 1 erased & overwrote hard drive. Second disc won't start. All i get is a lengthy paragraph that boils down to : MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE. PXE M0F: EXITING PXE ROM.\r\n ...

Your computer is using the network-connection to try to connect a "network boot server", to try to load a bootable image across the network.

The 'MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE' is the error-message when no "network boot server" responds to a "network boot request".

The 'EXITING PXE ROM' message is the exit from the P(re) (e)X(ecution) E(nvironment) part of the R(ead) O(nly) M(emory) inside your computer, since the "network boot" did not proceed.

So, insert "Restore Disk #1" and restart your computer, and FORCE it to "boot" from the CD-ROM device -- not from the disk-drive. When prompted, insert "Restore Disk #2" to continue the reinstallation of Windows. When prompted, remove the disk from the CD-ROM device, and restart your computer.

Note that it's also possible that your disk-drive is "dying" -- any attempts to install Windows on it have FAILED. Thus, any time to "boot" from those "not-written" files will cause problems.

Your boot file on your hard drive may have been corrupted. You need to start the computer with your operating system disc in the drive, and hopefully it will be able to repair your operating system. good Luck!

Faulty system restore

If you are refering to the DELL system restore on the hard drive you will have to contact DELL and have them ship you the recovery discs for your system. Once you have the recovery discs, insert them in your drive and boot the computer from the CD/DVD to attempt the recovery.
