    Thanks,
How do you know if it is reset automatically and if not what is the process.
I was told if it is not reset it will supply more amps to the lamp which could the damage or blow it.
This is the second lamp replacement, the first I just replaced it and had no problems,it was lat the tv technician advised it was supposed to be reset.

I have been repairing TVs for 32yrs ,another thing if Lamp is not working then you have No Picture so how do you think you are going to reset Lamp Timer without being able to See the Menu?

In other words you cannot reset Timer untill you replace Lamp! Lamps are designed to play only 5000 up to 8000hrs so when you go to Lamp Timer see how many hours on Lamp does it have if it is telling you that you have over 5000 hrs then reset it back to 0.And Like I said Most all DLPs reset themselfs after New Lamp is install, Ive never had the first one come back due to Timer needing to be reset Nor have they ever been blowed back out because of not resetting Timer Hours.I hope this answers your question and think about it sometimes depending on Who gives you advice does not mean it is always The Right Advice,so when your not sure about what you have been told it is always smarter to keep asking untill you get the correct advice.God Bless have a Wonderfull Day.

I have a Sanyo PLC-EX20 projector which shuts down after five minutes, what could cause this?

There are 2 possible causes.

The first may be due to overheating. Most projectors have a "air filter" that can be removed and cleaned. If it gets clogged with dust over time, the projector can't breathe and shuts down.

The second cause may be your lamps life hour clock. Most projectors keep track of the amount of time that their bulbs have been active. Once a preset # of hours has passed the projector will limit functionality until a new bulb has been installed AND the lamp life clock reset. Most projectors do not automatically reset the lamp life clock after a new bulb is inserted.

There should be instructions on how to reset the lamp clock in your users manual, and info on cleaning the air filter. Unfortunately I went to the Sanyo website and was unsuccessful in locating a PDF of the user manual for you.

I have a VPL-CX70 that has a new lamp (less than 50 hours) and the hours were reset to 0 when the new one was installed. However, today, the lamp cover LED started blinking and the projector shut itself...

The bulb is not lighting correctly.
Take out the bulb and check the connectors are not dirty and reinsert.
See if you can see the bulb looks ok, you may be unlucky that the bulb has prematurely failed (hope not)
Try again to start it.

Replaced bulb last nite, green light blinks for a min. then it worked! watched a few min.turned on this morning blinking.... wont stop green blink. last nite when i changed bulb tv said change bulb reset...

Many projectors use a lamp hour timer for predicting bulb life so they can give you fair warning of impending failure. Since a bulb may be removed and reinstalled because it is still working or another used lamp installed, the timer is not automatically reset to zero when the lamp is replaced. I surmise your set is complaining because the timer was not reset or the time verified when you changed the bulb.

To fix the problem, buy or borrow a remote control; a universal remote control with a menu button may work. (If you borrow a universal remote from a friend, be sure to record the code for your friend's TV first so you can set it back before returning it.)

You could probably get back into the timer reset menu by removing the new lamp and reinstalling it. Caution: follow the directions on page 68 of the user's manual or the sheet that came with the bulb - let the set cool for an hour first, unplug, and wear gloves when handling the bulb since skin oil can cause discoloration and possibly an explosion when the bulb gets hot. You can download the user's manual from Panasonic's support page for this set.

If you can edit the timer hours instead of just resetting, you may want to set it for the number of hours the new bulb has been used.

It is likely that you can get into the lamp timer menu if the set is in service mode, but the user's manual doesn't tell how to get there (I don't have that info either - it's in the service manual, which may be available online from a third party for a price). Usually it is something like holding a volume or channel button on the front of the TV while turning it on with the remote control. After that you need the code to switch to the timer menu. If you have problems getting into the timer menu, ask your dealer's service department or try calling the Panasonic help line listed on the bottom of page 68: 1-888-VIEW PTV(843-9788).

Mitsubishi HC 900 DLP Projection Lamp Shutdown.

Honestly I would try entering the 'Lamp timer reset' code again. Or the button sequence given to reset the lamp timer.
An issue that may be happening is that something may have happened to the lamp ballast power supply also.
Just a thought.

Lamp and temp lights come on after power up and stay on. Lamp only has 330 hours on it.

OK, that explains it. The bulb you have installed in the projector might be the original bulb that came with the projecoter when it was new. Just becuase it states 334 hours does not mean it is new. In fact, you could have a original bulb with 3000 hrs and reset the hour timer on the projector, which means your 3000 hour bulb might have 3334 hours on it because the person who owned it before you, reset the hour timer.. Best bet, buy a new bulb and reset the hour meter and see what happens. If you have the same problem, then your ballest might needs to be replace which is rare...

New bulb installed and it takes 10 plus minutes to start

Exchange the lamp under warranty...
You've tried almost everything else.
It's not that uncommon to experience "infancy failure" with a brand new lamp.

If the problem persists with the replacements replacement then I would suspect the Lamp power supply (Ballast) is failing.
