It's the 'Dongle'. Unplug it, and plug it back in. Move the mouse around and it will work again.

I can't get my hp wireless mouse workn

Hi there,
The first thing to determine is whether or not you are getting a connection. Check to see if there is power on the device that is plugged into your computer. (The device which plugs in via USB). If you are not getting power to that, try a different USB port. If you are getting power to that device, follow Step 2:
The next thing to try is to look underneath the mouse. If you see a red light, it means the batteries are fine. If you don't see a red light replace the batteries. If that doesn't work, follow Step 3:
The next thing to check are the drivers on your computer. You will probably need a wired mouse to do this though. Unplug the wireless mouse, then plug in a wired one. Since I'm not sure on the model of your mouse, go to HP's website and click into the Drivers and Downloads section. Locate your mouse model number underneath the mouse or wireless transmitter, then search for the drivers. Once you have located the drivers, download them to your Desktop, but don't install them. Once they are downloaded, unplug the wired mouse from your computer, then plug in the wireless mouse and proceed to Step 4:

Before you install the drivers, go Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Mice and Other Pointing Devices, then uninstall each mouse driver listed in here. You're doing this in case another mouse driver is conflicting with your current one. Reboot your computer. Once the computer is rebooted, go on to your Desktop and install that driver you downloaded from HP's website. Press the sync button on your wireless receiver (if there is a sync button), then try your mouse again.

I have a GE wireless optical mouse that has decided no to work

I had the same problem till I discovered there are two buttons (not just one) you have to push to re-link the mouse and the USB receiver. Plug the little receiver in, push the tiny "connect" circle on the receiver (which is actually a button I guess), then wait for the red light to start blinking. Then press the little link button on the bottom of the mouse.

On the wireless mouse that came with my computer(without ant info, thank u Dell)I have three lights on on the top of the receiver going on right now, two green and one red and I have no idea what there for...

their are numerous complaints about the batteries going so fast, on average were talking 2 days of complete use that's 24 hours of straight movements with the mouse before a dead battery not very impressive if this is true. test this way put fresh batteries in their. good quality batteries will work best due to their ability to release the charge under longer periods of time at the same voltage and amperage. press the button on the underside of the mouse that says connect, and press the top button the the receiver that's plugged into the computer tower. they will pair up and you will be able to use it as normal. the keyboard got a great rating. (side note: would love to know how long the batteries lasted you.)

The red laser pointer underneath the mouse isn't coming on? put new batteries in and the receiver is showing the green light once plugged into my laptop.

I doubt the problem is the battery. I have this same mouse and it has worked beautifully for two years now EXCEPT for one problem: most of the time, the mouse does not turn on when the receiver is removed from the receptacle on the bottom of the mouse. There is a tiny little switch built into that receptacle, along the side wall of the receptacle not far from the light. I have to wiggle this little switch (gently!) by hand a few times until the light comes on. From that point, the mouse will work fine until the receiver is placed back in the receptacle.

Hi, I have the wireless mouse 3000 and I just changed my batteries but on the receiver I can't get the green light to work. I tried pushing the button on the receiver but nothing. Any idea? The mouse has...

Try putting the receiver in another USB port on your computer. If it still doesn't light, push the button on the receiver and the reset button underneath the wireless mouse (you might need a pen/pin to do this) for approximately 10 seconds at the same time. The receiver and the mouse should now be synchronized. You should be able to use your mouse and and receiver should be giving a steady green light. If not, you will have to consider that the wireless mouse receiver is busted.

New wireless mouse quit working after 2 days.

Hi bobbii1968,

  1. Try replacing the batteries. Do not use alkaline batteries. Use ordinary Eveready battery.
  2. Check polarity when placing battery in mouse
  3. Ensure red infrared light is on. If on, there is hope in getting the mouse to work
  4. Plug in USB wireless receiver.
  5. Press button on receiver and below the mouse.
  6. This should work fine.
Update us again if the above does not work?

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Did you register the mouse to the receiver? There should be a button on the receiver, the bottom of the mouse or both used to connect the wireless mouse to the receiver. Also, if you do not have a red light on the bottom of your mouse it may have a battery problem.
