I did not rebuild the carb for it has never been used. I have since then removed the carb and there is 1 round brass disc in the bottom for the choke but none in the upper which leads to the valves or piston.

You don't say so but did you rebuild the carb or disconnect it for some reason? I think setting the choke on your saw also sets the fast idle, and yes trying to start it without the throttle advanced is difficult to impossible.

That should be the throttle plate. If it came loose, it may/should be laying in the intake manifold or it may be on top of the piston. You need to find the parts before trying to start. A small screw that fastens the plate, when it becomes lougged in the top of the piston can destroy the cylinder.

Poulan Pro Wild Thing will only run with choke out. Carb has been fully rebuilt and new lines added. As soon as throttle is pulled and choke pops off, engine dies. Any recommendations/suggestions? Thanks,...

If not already done replace the fuel filter in the tank, it is obviously fuel starvation, if no better increase the the fuel mixture on the H and L screws ( turn anti clockwise 1/4 turn on each to start with)

My poulan wild thing will start but will not stay running without holding the throttle. What should I do?

Get some sta-bil fuel stabilizer. add twice the amount recommended on the bottle for storage to your mixed gas. Empty out chainsaw tank and refill with the new mix. Rub for 2 minutes, then shut off. Remove cover over carb and spray inside carb, soaking it down good and cleaning all internal surfaces visible - allow to sit overnight.
Next day
Spray down carb with carb cleaner for about 15 seconds. Start saw, allowing 2 minutes to warm up and reduce choke. If saw stalls, restart and spray inside carb as it runs with choke on - keep motor at the highest rpms you can as you spray - spray in 2 second bursts, not allowing motor to stall from spray. If it stalls, change sparkplug and try again. You have varnish build up in the carb and are trying to remove it so the carb will work without the choke. This may take some time but it is the exact procedure I used for my Poulan Team Realtree last spring - I spent about an hour spraying and staring before it ran without the choke.
Good luck!!

Adjust high low screws on carb.

I just finished looking at mine and I think they made it that way so back yard mechanics dont tinker with it. If there is a Poulan dealership in yout area that would be the place to get it.

2375 ''wild thing'' poulan saw hard starting after carb rebuild

Through trial and error on fairly new Poulin Pro, found that the usual 3-half turns for both high and low was too much (flooded) (Used to be good starting point on weed eaters years ago. So, turned both all the way in, and only backed out 1-full turn. (2-halves) Saw fired up perfectly, and ran wide open just fine. Try that.
