    I have power to the printer All connections seem to be ok but when I attempt to [rint, I get a message sayint the printer cannot connect to computer. It has worked fine before now. What am I doing wrong?

Why does my canon mg5420 say "printer not responding"


Whenever I hear of a "not responding" problem in the same sentence as "Wi-Fi" I question the wireless connection. I'm sure you've done the tests, but just to go over them; Is the printer working - can you get a test print out of it locally (setup)? Is the computer actually "talking" to the printer (Check network settings and local connections)? And, can you connect directly to the printer using a USB lead - and get a print? I would be tempted to tell the computer to find a new printer, in order to double check.

Printer doesn't respond via USB only WiFi


As my helper partner states, I quite agree but I would also use a different USB which the one you're using might be damaged, use another USB station cause maybe its also damaged. But if it states that the printer is offline...it will never print because its not selected as your active Printer. Actually you are sending the printing jobs to that printer wich is not active or recognized.

Check that, the printer is connected to your computer and that you are able see in under "Devices and Printers". If the icon of the printer is grey then there is a problem with your data cable. Alternatively, you might want to check that the "Print Spooler" service is properly running. To check it, simply right-click 'Computer' and select 'Manage', from the window that opens, simply select the services option from the tree and find a service called "Print Spooler"

Printer not responding


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

My printer is not responding to when i ask to print something.


If the printer is not printing, check the cables connecting the printer and the computer. Make sure it is properly connected. Check the settings on your computer if printer is set as a default printer and try printing a test page from the driver page. To do this open printer and faxes, right click on the printer >properties and click the button print test page.

If you are able to print a test page, check the settings of your application and make that the correct printer is selected.

The printer is not printing any document

Please check

1. Do you have a printer cable failure?

The printer will not be printing if its not connected to the computer. Check that the printer cable connecting your printer to the computer is firmly attached at both ends. Apart from this cable, there should be one more cable which is the one connecting to the wall outlet.

2. In case it still not work after checking try resetting and printing.

3. Else please change the Data Cable if it is very old one.

Priter does't respond when i used it to print a document


Printer isn’t responding? Please check the following:
i. Is it powered on? If so good.
ii. Is the printer cable connected from printer to your computer? If so good.
iii. Check to see if printer is properly installed. Go to start/control panel/printers and faxes. When the box pops up with the list of installed printers check to see if your printer is listed. If not listed it means your printer is not installed. This also invariably implies that your printer cable (from printer to computer) is bad. Change it and your printer should install and you should be able to print then.

try to check your setting for the printer before printing. maybe you have paper jam try to check feed papers. press the power if this is blinking. If the problem persist just restart your computer. Sometimes thist problem needs restart to continue printing.
