Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines.

First, see the Sears Parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.28912791

There are a couple of places to check, assuming that it does spin and drain correctly.

First, see if the tub stalls when the "clunking" sound happens. In order to do this you'll have to by-pass the Lid Switch.

It's not as difficult as it sounds.

See the following for how to tilt the console back.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137&osCsid=bce33cd8b32f440a0adb6e8170d95aea

With the console tilted back and the lid switch connector un-plugged, by-pass it by using a short piece of insulated wire between the two outermost pins on the connector connected to the console.

See the following Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for these washers. It has a description of how to by-pass the switch.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

With the switch by-passed,start the washer and move the timer to the spin cycle. Watch the tub to see if it hesitates when the machine clunks.

If the tub hesitates, pull the agitators and the drive block. You don't have to buy a special spanner wrench. I've used a short 10" pipe wrench hooked around one of the tabs on the spanner nut and tapped the handle of the wrench with a hammer.

Also, use a short piece of wood under the drive block to protect it when you tap it up.

Check the drive block slots and the tabs on the spin tube.

If both are OK, remove the cabinet, pump, motor and transmission.

Check the cam on the basket drive and the springs / bands on the clutch.

If either of those are damaged or worn see the following Whirlpool parts list for their commercial washers although the consumer models use the same part numbers.

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20W10114743.pdf

The Sears site also has part numbers for a clutch rebuild kit.

Series 90 washer loud clicking during Slow wash cycles, Fast OK.

Turned out to be a loose electrical connector near the motor.  Plug was re-connected and secured with a zip tie to prevent another disconnect.

Sounds like you have a broken motor coupler. They are inexpensive. Can be a little tough to replace but I can walk you through it. You can purchase a coupler here.

Squeaking/grinding/rattle noise during wash and spin

That sounds like a clutch problem - probably just worn and need replacement. Will definitely need to pull to find exact fault.
