It sounds like your PCI card may be defective, or perhaps not inserted properly. Try reseating the card, but are you sure it is the MONITOR's power light? Not the COMPUTER?

Remove the card and install again making sure it goes all the way in..( and/or installing on another slot.. Make sure theres no hair or dust goes in the slot.. If problem persist, 1. You probably need to access bios n configure/enable the pci ports.. 2. The power supply is insufficient.

Does the dell studio 540 pc come with a built in wireless card

The wireless card was optional for that particular computer. You can see if you have one by clicking the start button (lower left corner) right click on computer and select "manage". When the window opens click device manager in the left window and find "network adapters" in the larger center window. If you see a wireless card listed in that then you have one and it should be activated already (there's no on/off switch for wireless on a desktop). If you don't, any PCI wireless card can be purchased for 15-30 bucks. To install it, turn off and unplug your computer, take off the side panel of your machine, remove the i/o cover adjacent to the PCI slot you plan to use and insert the card into the pci slot and secure it with the screw that held the cover on. Power on your computer and run the driver installation software that came with the card you purchased.

HI,
On your computers motherboard, you have three slots
  • PCI slot
  • 1 PCI express slot 16
  • 2 PCI express slot 1
You would require a PCI express 1 ex wireless card for the system

Thanks

Resource conflict - PCI network controller on motherboard BUs:02, Device:02, Function:00

You can adjust the resources in device manager. right click on my computer (which you will find from either your desktop or from start menu), select manage, then on the left side click on device manager, on the right side, find the problem device, click properties, go to the resources page, you will be able to view and change the resources, adjust them so there is no conflict.

How do i set up wireless internet on my hp pavillion a330n desktop? Do i need a wireless card or is it built in? and where do i put the wireless card if i need one?

Hello,

Yes you need a wireless adapter.

Solution one : Get PCI wireless adapter which you will insert in an empty PCI slot inside your computer.

Solution 2. Buy a USB wireless adapter, which you plug in a USB port.
However, if my memory serves me right, that particular HP pavillion is 5 or 6 years old, and it does support USB 2.0, just USB 1.1

My advice to you is to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card to be installed in an empty PCI slot )or in the one occupied by the firewire )if not needed). This card will provide 4 or 5 USB 2.0 adapters. Then buy a USB wireless adapter, which you will be able to use with other computers.

Hope It helps.

54Mbps 802.11g wireless LAN PCI Card problem

You need to connect to the manufacturer's web site and find the exact pci card model and download the software. You can download to a flash drive or CD and then run the program on the other computer BEFORE you plug in the hardware. Then install the pci card and follow the setup instructions.
Good Luck
