You may end up spending alot to rebuild the shifters, brakes, tires, saddle. Have you considered checking the local craigslist and picking up a reasonable priced replacement? You may come out ahead. If all the cables, shifters etc are rusted and having to be replaced, it can add up quick. Sorry to hear about your truck..

I have a schwinn serial number dp509984. I would like to known what year make and model it is as well as a price range if at all poossible. Thanks for ur help

It would help if you had at least provided the type of bike (old coaster brake, 3 speed, 10 speed, etc.) The make is Schwinn, the model is written right on the bike frame or chainguard. If the bike is repainted so that the model is not visible it's not worth much. As far as year, just Google "Schwinn serial number" (and note info about date codes) and see my tip for more info: How to determine the year value etc of your bicycle

Schwinn cruiser frame serial number U22Y48168 under crank, forward facing drop out. the tubes run on outside of seat post, not welded into it on both sides. what can you tell me about this frame?

The serial number alone is not always helpful, including in this case. You need to specify what the model is (written on frame or chainguard). If the bike has been repainted it does not matter much how old it is, most of the value is gone. Look for an additional number on the head tube - may have a date code. Google "Schwinn serial number" for more info or check my tip:

I have schwinn stingray bike but the frame serial number doesn't appear to be a schwinn number. would JAK 13245 be a schwinn serial number

It doesn't appear to be a Schwinn frame. I suggest that someone has switched out a phoney frame, added Schwinn parts and sold it as a genuine Schwinn. Schwinn date codes are available on-line.

Vibrating on right turns

Probably front wheel bearing worn out or a wheel rubbing frame when turning.

Schwinn bike serial numbers

The Schwinn Super Le Tours were made in Japan from 1976 to 1985. Your serial number "K6" would have been made in November 1976.

LOOKING FOR AN OWNERS MANUAL FOR A 1981 SCHWINN LE TOUR 10 SPEED. THERES GOT TO BE ONE OUT THERE IN CYBER SPACE TO DOWN LOAD.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

What exactly are you needing instructions for? Most bikes are just static frames with a bunch of aftermarket (Shimano, for example) stuff hung on them.

For unique parts use a search engine. There MAY be something out there.

http://www.schwinnbikes.com/support/owners-manuals

Except for proprietary frames or technologies, everything on a common bike is found on just about any other brand of bike and the individual components are usually documented at the individual manufacturers' websites.

Places like http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help document many of the repair and adjustment procedures.

Google will find tons of How-to videos for assembly and adjustment.

I found two Schwinn bikes in my mom's garage after she had passed away. One was a Schwinn Le tour (light blue) serial # 4H1152 the second was a Schwinn Sports tourer (green) serial # MH623652. Both are not...

That is a good find!-- I always favor the Schwinn line-- My Dad used to sell them in Warsaw, New York years ago!
You ask good questions-- and maybe I can give you some thoughts--
Likely you will need new tires and tubes all the way around--
You local hardware (maybe even Wallmart?) - or for sure your local bike shop will have them--
Be sure to take the exact size numbers with you-- for there are MANY SIZES in tires these days!

Now-- What are you planning on doing with the bicycles?
The old Schwinn's were Strong, Sturdy AND HEAVY (by today's standards..)
(I used to Pedal papers for years with my Schwinn Corvette!!)
Most bicycle riding enthusiasts these days want lighter bikes-- and thinner tires!--
Great for the long run-- Are you going to use the Bikes yourself, or were you thinking of selling them? -- They probably mean more to you (and are probably worth more to you-- if they were old Family Heirlooms' )

So-- Any family history associated with them?

Let us know if we can help you more

How do you set up brakes after changing tube? What is the position of the lock washers - inside or outside of frame?

The lockwashers go outside the frame, right next to the nuts. But I would need more info to answer the brakes question. Schwinn called lots of bikes "Jaguar". If this a single-speed bike with a coaster break, then you can Google images for COASTER BRAKE..

Replacing occ stingray front end

As long as the neck of the fork that goes into the frame is the same length and width (or circumferance) it should fit.
