Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
Can you see any image on the screen in a dark room, using a flashlight sometimes helps. An image will be most visible right after you turn the laptop on, when the logo appears. If you can see the image but it is dark you need a new probably backlight inverter which is a relatively easy and cheap repair - I usually charge less than $50. JC Hunter

You guys can grab the downloads for the drivers off the Compaq website,
the site can be found at;
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1144546 and for windows 2000 try http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=181&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1144546
However if you have a Compaq Presario v2000 with an Radeon XPRESS (ATI) graphics card
you need to get the drivers from here http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML
Hope that helps,

You will find the drivers you need there!
Just select one of the 3 V2000, the one YOU have, then select your OS, download all the drivers you need.
Good luck to you!

SOURCE: turn on goes to black screen
Can you access F10 bios - if you can access bios you have a hard disc failure - remove you hard drive - boot the system without the hdd and see if the pixie boot boot goes through - seen it before - your hdd is unservicable.
