Upon powering up , all light blink non-stop. never been able to detect device at all. Can't be used even with wire connection as normam router.

check if your router has a reset button. try to reset the router. there is also a case wherein the power adapter is giving insufficient power or voltage check the output voltage of the adapter but let the professional do that. if the adapter is ok then there is a problem with the router. contact the manufacturer.

I bought a wireless Linksys wireles- G router used for 5.00. They said that it had a weak signal. I hooked it up and sure enough I have a weak signal. So weak that it does not connect to anything but there...

I made mine into a range expander with this information!5563196/turn-your-old-router-into-a-range+boosting-wi+fi-repeater

If you up to the challenge and can follow instructions, takes about 30 min to do.
When you put on the new OS for the router you can up your signal too.

How can I extend the router's range?

Most routers have about 200m range. However, the actual range in real-time environment is much less. Generally the antenas are omni-directional, however, directional antenna can be used to improve range in one direction. There are two ways to increase the range/ coverage area (i) Adding external antenna of appropriate type (ii) Installing additional Access Point (AP) connecting it with the existing AP wirelessly in line-of-sight (creating WDS) OR connecting the two APs with wire, which is a better option as it provides robust and reliable connectivity between APs.

Based on my on-site experience, I suggest that you may relocate the AP to another location depending upon your network environment. It has always helped me a great deal. Placing the AP at the desk level, avoiding obstacles such as concrete pillars, walls, steel cabinets etc in the signal path have remarkable effect on range and overall performance of the network.

HOPE IT HELPS...Let me know if you need any further clarification assistance specific to you AP make and model. Don't forget to rate the solution if I could have been of any help!

It can take anything up to ten minutes from logging on to getting on line

Try powering off the router and then powering it back on again. After it syncs with the line then it should improve the login time. If not then take a look at your PC and make sure that you have enough spare disk space and that there are no hardware errors showing. Insufficient disk space (swap file space) will considerably slow down the pc boot up process and everything else as well.

Can't seem to change security level

You have a d-link 625 range booster? if i am not mistaken the most secured level encryption is WPA2.. MOST apple ipod touch does not support WPA2 encryption, most only support WPA encryption.. try setting your security level to Medium or lower your encryption to WPA.  If it still does not work, try the Lowest Encryption.
if this does not help, try using WEP

The Router appears to have failed

There are several possible causes for that problem. The first is a bad power cable, insufficient power received by the router, firmware corruption on the router, or the router may have gone bad.

ø For bad power cable, you can try to use other power cable just make sure that the voltage of the one you are replacing and the replacement are exactly the same.
ø To insufficient power, you can try other power outlets
ø For firmware corruption, you can try the following steps:

1. Connect a computer to the numbered port of your router. For now, the connection would only be computer and router.
2. Check for a valid IP address. If you do not know how to, you can follow the steps on this link. The IP address should be in the range of 192.168.0.X (X as a number between 2 – 254). If not, hold the reset button of the router for 30 seconds and try again. If the same happens, set a static IP address on the computer within the router’s range (192.168.0.X (X as a number between 2 – 254)).
3. If you are able to get a valid IP address, try to check if you can access the router’s setup page. Launch an Internet browser and type in on the address bar. If it asks for a User name and Password, enter admin for the router user name and password for the router password or the password you have changed it to. If you were able to get in, you can use that page to upgrade the router’s firmware. Then once it has been successful, reset the router and reconfigure.

However, when all these steps have already been tried and the same happens. That would only mean that the router is already defective and you need to have it replaced.
