You need to install drivers so your computer can recognize that something is plugged in.
Go to this website http://www.sandisk.com/sandisk-support/driver-download-wizard.aspx

Choose Sansa - e200 series in the first box, skip the second box, and then choose your operating system for example Windows XP, then click on the find drivers icon. If the drivers fail to work it could be a component in the player itself is damaged; I would see about getting the player looked at in Walmart or Bestbuy.

I do not have any software on my computer anymore for my sandisk mp3 player. how can i redownload the necessary program (s) to be able to remove and download music to my device?

You do not need software to use the Sansa e250. You can simply plug it into your computer, and use it as a portable drive. You can drag your music files directly onto the player from your computers file explorer.
Hope this helps!

I turn on my sansa e250 it goes to refresh database, then blanks

There are two connection settings in USB: MTP and MSC. For some reason MTP is the default, but it doesn't connect properly on all computers. Select MSC and plug the player in again, the computer will recognize sansa e250 but not show the driver just yet. It is installing recognition software (just basic drivers - nothing heavy) and it doesnt tell you what its doing until its complete. WAIT FOR IT. Once it is complete you will see both the sansa e250 and the removable memory slot in your "my computer" now you're good to go.

Sansa won't charge or load.

Plug it into the computer (the cord you would use to charge it and transfer files), and hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. The Sansa should then begin to turn on and start charging. :)

"Writing" prevents Safely Remove

Yeah - it keeps trying to transfer those songs to the player - it can't read directly from the location, but the processer knows its there; it doesn;t know what to do with it - so it';s stuck; delete the recordings, dude

My Sansa doesn´t work well,

If it is still on, hold down the power button for about 15 seconds; that should turn it off. Try turning it on again. If it still does not work, turn it off by holding power for 15 seconds, then on again like this: - Put hold on - Hold record - Press power on This will start recovery mode, follow on-screen instructions. Hope all goes well!!
