Did you have the new ignition switch programmed to the old computer before you changed the computer? Parts were programmed back then, and you wouldn't believe what parts have to be programmed in cars made today! Door switches for example, need to be programmed in!

TOUCH PAD NOT WORKING

The Sony Vaio laptop is typically sold with a touchpad device installed below the keyboard. The touchpad is for navigating the screen and is used like an external mouse. A touchpad can sometimes malfunction for no apparent reason, but there are ways on troubleshooting the device yourself before asking a technician for help. Start your computer as you normally would. Click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Go to "C:\ Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series." Find and choose the "VCCPointingDevice" folder in the "Setting Utilities Series folder" to open the "Built-in Pointing Device" dialog box. Locate the "Enable" box on the "Built-in Pointing Device" dialog box. Check the box to enable the Vaio touchpad if you wish to use this device. Disable the touchpad if it is interfering with the external mouse. Uncheck the "Enable" box if you have a USB (PS/2) mouse connecting to your Vaio and wish to use that instead of the built-in touchpad. Pick "Yes, I'm Sure" when prompted to activate your choice, then close all the windows. Windows 7 Normal Mode Launch Windows as usual. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Mouse" > "Pointing Device" to open the Vaio touchpad control center. Uncheck the "Enable" box on the "Pointing Device" window when you wish to use your external mouse. Check the "Enable" box on the "Pointing Device" window when you want to use the Sony Vaio touchpad. Make sure the external mouse is not interfering with the touchpad if you have one connected. If so, unplug the mouse from your computer. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Pointing Device" window. Close all other windows. b> XP and Vista Safe Mode b> Restart your computer. Press the F8 key before the Windows welcome screen appears to enter Safe Mode. Click "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add/Remove Programs." Find and delete all software for mice and pointing devices. Restart your computer in normal Windows mode. Proceed to next step if the problem persists. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. Right click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Choose "Properties" on the drop-down list. Pick the "Device Manager" tab in the Properties window. Select the "Other Devices" folder and click on the "+" sign besides it. Delete all the devices under this "+" sign by clicking on the "Remove" button next to each of the items. Restart Windows in Normal Mode. Once Windows is operating, there will be a "New Hardware Wizard" pop-up that will load all the necessary drivers for the touchpad, mouse and other pointing devices. This should fix the corrupt driver for your Vaio touchpad. b> Windows 7 Safe Mode b> Reboot your computer and press the F8 key before the Windows welcome screen appears to enter Safe Mode. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Device Manager" > "Mice and other pointing devices." Click the touchpad icon. Choose the "Driver" tab and press the "Uninstall" button. Press the "OK" button to confirm. Restart Windows in Normal Mode. Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Device Manager" > "Mice and other pointing devices." Choose the "Driver" tab and press the "Update" button. Press the "OK" button to fix the touchpad software. Hope this help.

The SentrySafe electronic lock is shipped with a factory set master & manager code (777777).
You should set the lock to your own unique master & manager code immediately.

I have a Defiant Electronic deadbolt from home Depot. model G1X2D01. ive lost the manual and i need to delete some old codes from it.

Snap off the back cover (opposite where you punch the numbers) by pinching the sides and pulling off. Do not press a pen or anything into the small light, you do not need too. Just pinch and yank off cover. You will see a small light and beside it is a small SET button by the batteries, it is labelled.. Press this Set button for 2 seconds. The red LED will light on the front code side and beep twice to indicate you are in programming mode. Enter your current code that you want to change (factory set is 12345) and then press the button that looks like a little lock on the keypad. Enter the digits "10" and press the lock button again. Enter the new code (must be six digits) and then press the lock button again. The red light should go on continously for 10 seconds. The code should be effective.
Note: if you have problems like we did, you can also remove one battery and press the "set" button simulataneously when you reinsert the battery. This resets the factory code of 12345. Then you can start over. For some reason our old code was only 4 digits, but it would not let us reprogram a 4 digit code. It didn't work until we did a 6 digit new code.

Orange light comes on occassionally on mouse pad and cursor freezes, how do i stop this

Tap the orange light quickly two times to enable the touchpad. Touch the same spot twice to disable the touchpad. To see the instructions from HP type "mouse" into the Search Programs and Files. Click on "Change mouse settings" and click Device Settings. Click on "Settings" and click "Touch pad disable zone". I was delighted to have found this as I had been restarting the computer manually to enable the touchpad. Shame on HP. The instructions for this simple problem are difficult to locate for the average user. They can do better.

Can't see the touchpad icon on the system tray

Hi! I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with a touchpad (this model is a bit older than yours). If you want to see the touchpad icon in the System Tray so that you can change the settings and so forth, here is how to do it in Windows XP:

1. Go to Start, then Control Panel, then Mouse.

2. In the Mouse Properties dialog box that pops up, look for a tab called "Dell Touchpad" and click on it to select it.

3. Click on the big picture of the touchpad with the arrow in the middle of the new dialog box that pops up.

4. You should now see a new window that says "Dell Touchpad" pop up.

5. At the bottom of the Dell Touchpad window, click the checkbox that says "Display icon in taskbar" (you should see a checkmark in this box).

6. You should now be able to see the Dell Touchpad icon in your System Tray.

7. If you still do not see the Dell Touchpad icon, or if you do not see a tab that says "Dell Touchpad," then try re-installing the driver for the Dell Touchpad by going to:

http://support.dell.com

Enter the service tag of your laptop, or its model number (Inspiron 1525), then hit the Confirm button. You should see a new window pop up that shows all the compatible drivers for your laptop. The one you will need in this case is under the section "Input Device Drivers." Look for the driver for the Dell Touchpad, download it, and then install it, if necessary.

Also, please make sure that you can see all the icons in your System Tray. If you can't, then try clicking on the little left-facing arrow in the System Tray, which will expand the System Tray to show all the icons there, and then you should be able to see the missing Dell Touchpad Icon.

I do hope this solves your problem. Please feel free to comment on my solution, and rate me as to how I did. Thank you!

Brand new dell xps laptop, touchpad will not scroll.

The Dell touchpad settings can be accessed in Vista by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse. If the box that appears when you open the mouse properties doesn't say anything about dell then you need to install the driver for the touchpad. To do this go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen and then click "Enter a Tag", then enter your service tag, which can be found on the underside of your computer, into the box and click "Go". After selecting the operating system that is running on the machine click the little + icon next to "Imput Device Drivers" and once that expands download and install the one that says "Dell - Driver Applies to Touchpad / Pointing Stick". Once it is installed the computer may need to restart.
