Try disconnecting the mouse from the usb port and reboot the unit.
Now, on your touch pad, top left blue led is let showing it is functioning. Press the center button next to the led, which will shut off the internal mouse.
Plug in your mouse to a different USB port and the unit should see the mouse.
If not and the mouse does not light up, replace the mouse.
You may have had a conflict with the internal and external mouse.

Dell 6420 laptop not recognizing USB ports while on docking station

Hello Jackie.

2 of youre USBs are USB 3. so you need to install the right drivers for USB 3.
Also you should check youre BIOS settings, if there is an option to enable "XHCI" support so enable it. (USB 3 needs this to work ).
regards Gue.

If your mouse works in another computer. Try to connect it into another USB laptop port. Goto control panel > Devices and see if your mouse is recognized and drivers are installed for it.

on the bottom of the GE wireless mouse there is a connect button make sure to push it one time then on the usb there is a connect circle hold it as if you were going to pinch it sounds dumb but I was just having the same problem and I read one of the solution fixes and it said to push connect button on back of mouse and also push it on the usb where it says connect even though the one that you push on the usb stick isn't a button but it is sensed once held with pointer finger and thumb hope this better describes it to fix it

USB device not recognized

Got the easiest solution to the problem. It worked for me, hope it helps all of you too.

First of all, if the device is unrecognizable, go to Device Manager and remove (not disable) the device. After doing so, remove the USB connector from the port.

Next, go to
http://www.logitech.com/en-my/support-downloads?wt.mc_id=usym_redirect_/index/downloads, and look for your mouse/keyboard etc model. Choose the one that you own and choose the Software Downloads option. Next, follow the steps and install the Logitech Connection Utility.

Once installed, follow the steps given and hopefully your device should be reconnected once again. Hope it helps all the best!

My laptop mouse wont work

do you mean the mouse integrated in the laptop or an external USB mouse?
If it is the integrated mouse, try to get an USB mouse, plug it and wait until your laptop recognize it, assuming you are working in Windows XP right clic on My Computer, clic on Properties --> Hardware --> Device Manager , double clic on Mice and other pointing devices, once here, look for the mouse of your laptop (do not mis identify it with the external mouse that you just plugged) right clic on it and clic on uninstall.
Restart your laptop, once in windows again it will recognize the mouse as a new device and will install the drivers again.
Good luck!

Had the same problem. There are 2 reset/ connect buttons: 1 on the mouse, and 1 on the usb device. Press the button on the usb device, and it should start right up. Good luck.

Computer wont recognize flash drive

unplug all other USB devices,(use the touchpad for your mouse) reboot and plug in the Sandisk. When another USB device is plugged into a stacked configuration, it's as if the second device is sitting behind the first and can't be seen in the crowd. I don't know if it's a USB mix and match problem or the stack or what, I just know that if the Sandisk is the only device in that USB stack, the machine will see it.
