Take your printer to a qualified technician, who can replace the ink-absorber, and "reset" the printer, to indicate that the new absorber is 0% full.

After deep cleaning, i find the following error message: "ink absorber is full". in spite of physical cleaning of the relevant parts including the cartridge heads, the problem persists. what should I do?

need to change the ink absorber to a new one.
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp160#ServiceAndSupport

The above weblink goes to the mp 160 web page.

When the 'ink absorber' is almost full, an error will show.

The 1-800-OK-CANON number should be called to try to schedule service of the printer by an authorized technician.

It is a shop repair since you have to use Canon diagnostics to reset the count and clear the error. The new part is around $10.00 only.
