Question about RIM 8350i Cell Phone
Are you sure you're not turning the speaker off by accident? My wife does that on hers because the speaker button is amongst all the other keys on the keyboard. It's half white and black on the fight of the keyboard.

Sometimes (and maybe not with this phone) the physical connector to the speaker ( since the speaker is separate from the phone circuitry) can be disconnected. If the phone is not under warranty or you do not have protection insurance, you can carefully take the back case off and see if the speaker has actually become disconnected.
Its rarely software.
