Twist off the round foot from the base station

underneath you will see four sockets
1 power jack - for powersupply

2 aux - this is for recording or other devices

3 one with a telephone on it
- remove your phone hand set and connect this to your telephone jack where your hand set was connected
4 one with just a hanset on it - connect your orginal handset from your phone here if you want to have it as a secodary set.(which is useful if your headset battery goes flat)

once your set is connected let the headset charge up if not already done so.
on the back of the base station is a little wheel that may need to be changed to ensure you dont get distortion or noise during your calls so do a test call and make sure it is working ok. try it in each position until you get the optimum.

WARNING: in 2007 GN NETCOM gave out a warning about certain batteries in the 9120 headset as being defective you may need to get their battery replacement set to change the headset battery. check with your supplier if your battery is ok.

Line will not disconnect from extension even though there is no call on the line.

Something is off hook with that line. You can try to reboot the phone system....but you will need to find the extension responsible for going off hook.

My hp officejet v40xi says off hook when I try to send a fax. I hear not dial tone. can you help me I am using sbcglobal service

It will say 'off the hook' if the line is in use. There should be dial tone on the line before you can fax something.

Hooking up mx310 all in one

The phone line should plug directly into the Line plug on the DSL modem and the all-in-one should plug into the Phone plug next to it. If you need to split the line do it AFTER the line comes out of the Phone plug.

Hi Brenda,

Your All In One wants a phone line hooked directly to it. It won't fax without a "POTS" line directly hooked to it. POTS stands for "Plain Old Telephone Service" which is the line with good old dial tone on it.

Will not fax

Hook a phone to the fax line and try to dial out... a fax line is no different than a phone line at your house ,, don't use a multi line phone like the ones at the office use a phone like you would have at the house to hook the the fax line .. If you are able to dial out call someone and check the line for static and pops they can cause the fax not to work either.. Good Luck

Got new phone, answering machine dead?

There is no two horizontal lines error description in user manual.

Based on my experience, I think, maybe it is related to parrellel phone dectection. ATT 1717 already think, the system is busy or in use. The line voltage is too low when you hook up other phone.
Your house phone line maybe far from switch (3km to 5km).

Dedicated fax line on system phone

If you have a dedicated fax line, the fax should be connected directly to the phone line. If you have the fax line connected to one of your station ports, you may be able to see which LED lights up on your phone when the fax goes off hook. Or you can just try intercomming all extensions in order until the fax rings.
