After searching several sites I think the feeler arm could be frozen. It doesn't seem to move freely or have a full range of motion. If anyone could point me to a picture of the feeler arm that would be great. Because of this I can't determine where up is, or where down is.After searching several sites I think the feeler arm could be frozen. It doesn't seem to move freely or have a full range of motion. Check ice level arm is free to indicate low ice arm should be down also check icemaker position switch if tray is not all the way back icemaker will not run.
Should be a wire feeler arm that runs front to back on that icemaker. If it is stuck in the up position---the icemaker is OFF. It should be hanging downward to be in the ON position. If up---just gentley pull it down until it is moving freely. As the ice bin fill with cubes that arm should move up and down with the icemaker. Once the cube level is high enough for the feeler arm to be held in the up position it will stop making ice until you use enough cubes for the arm to fall again.
This is due to the arm that controls the switch on the icemaker itself either being shorted or froozen in the toggled position. Usually the arm would lift as your ice container becomes full and shut the icemaker off until it reached a level where the switch would then toggle to the make ice position and then start makeing ice again. There are three 1/4" screws that hold the icemaker in place remove these screws unplug the icemaker and then use hot water to dethaw your ice maker for about 2-4 minutes after wards dry the icemaker then try reinstalling the icemaker if the problem persists replace the icemaker itself. If you have any further questions message me back I await your reply. Thank you Rick
I'm having trouble identifying that model number, but I can give you the generic answer. On most icemakers the "shut off" is lifting the wire arm to the up position. It should lock in that position. Lifting the arm shuts it off in the same manner that it stops the ice maker when too many cubes are in the tray. I have seen some icemakers that actually have a swich on the front side of them. But, they are in an obvious position so I'm guessing you don't have that style.
Hope this helps
Put the icemaker arm in the lock position to turn it off. If it is the icemaker making the noise, the noise should stop. If the noise stops, replace the icemaker. If it does not stop, let us know.
It sounds like you have a bad icemaker. Usually when the arm is clicking its the gears that are stripped out. Feel in the icemaker if theres cubes frozen in there then you know the icemaker is definitely bad. With the arm in the up position it will not make cubes at all that is the off position for the icemaker. Hope this helps _MJ_
you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.
sounds more like the heater in the ice maker is bad. The cycles of the ice maker are:
1. water comes in to fill ice maker.
2. water freezes in ice maker making.
3. heater comes on to help ice release.
4. motor comes on to eject the ice and start all over again.
if the heater doesn't come on the ice will not eject. replacing the icemaker is typically what needs to be done in this case.
