My tv is just keeps shutting off on it's own. the power and opc button is blinking. i can't get the tv to stay own. what is the problem?
Blinking Power & OPC light, set will not turn on. I unplugged the unit for several minutes, then plugged in again, still no pic and same flashing light sequence. Emailed Sharp, awaiting a response. Just purchased it on Dec 30th, 2007. Appears to be a manufacturing defect as I see numerous posts reporting the same problem on various other forums besides this one. According to one post the main board needs to be replaced, usually takes 3 weeks and that's if the parts are available. This bites, so I will be calling the retailer in hopes of getting a replacement.

Re: tv shutting off
Just take it back, and if they will only do an exchange, test the new
one before it leaves the store. If you get to change models,
Google it with 'complaint' or 'repair' in the search before you take
it. Under no circumstances let them try to fix it.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

The television has gone into a coma. It is going to need to be serviced or replaced. The blinking code is a pattern. If you look at the power light and the opc light separately and independently, you can acquire the blinking pattern. Cover opc and look at power only. Note how many times it is blinking before it pauses. It might just blink steadily. Next cover power and look at opc alone. Note how many times it blinks before it pauses.
Depending on which model you have it might work if you leave the television unplugged overnight. The next day plug the television back in and wait for the blinking to start. Hold down the power button on the side of the television until the light stops blinking and turns red (usually right away). Let go. Press and release the power button once more and the light should turn orangish and then green. The television should turn on.
You can call Sharp and have a case file created and try and INIT with the customer service representative.

I have this model of the sharp tv.Happen to me very often the Power and OPC LED light indicators blink continueosly. Not the power supply board,it the Tuner board that take in the comming broscast signal that have the problems. You still can used this tv.Push the power button sometime the tv it will work right away. Not,each time POWER and OPC lights continueosly blinks.Just push the power button again each time the POWER and the OPC continueosly blinks.Just have push power button again about 4 times each time Power and OPC blinks recycles,it will finally show the backlight and picture come on.My guest,if u do this by pushing power button to recycles about 10-12 times each time the POWER and OPC blinks it time to change the Tuner signal board.
This problems very common on Sharp Tv.Do ur tv LED power light turn on solid first.Few mins, than LED,OPC flahes.Power LED,OPC flashes, push power button again,do this at leat 5 or 6 times somtimes the backlight will come back on and work. The power LED,OPC light flashes, turn off/on more than 5 or 6 times don't work.Ur Tuner signal board is dead, must replaced.
it sounds like it may be a capacitor problem and it may be linked to the electricity you receive adding a battery back up of sufficient quality will smooth out the electric current and also **** up the spikes from the power and light company. I have seen many aquas suffer from capacitor failure but it may be an expensive fix. check your electric output and see if it can handle the load for this tv.
