posted by tolete on Jan 08, 2008

When i try to start the camera i get this message: "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again". I Don't think i have a lot of applications open at the same time or running low of free space on my card. Can somebody help me please?

I have had this same problem for about 10 months, no matter what software upgrades I use, no matter where my finger is on the phone when I open the camera. I can't find any reason why this problem is occurring but I'd love to be able to fix it.

I have had this problem for the last 4 month after upgrading the OS. The camera never worked, but... two or three times, after taking the phone from my pocket, I saw that the camera was working (the phone was not locked). Then, I wondered why the camera worked in my pocket and not when I tried to make it works.
I have realized that if you put your finger covering the flash when you try to start the camera, the camera will start without problems. Not sure if this will work also for you.

Now the flash seems not to work properly when taking pictures but at least I can take some with light.

Go to options>status, file free memory needs to be 4 mil bytes, the number listed will be in bytes, go to messages>options>clear cache, all for listed, Go to options>advanced options>applications, if you have bb sample video delete it and/or input supports/language, delete all languages that not necessary, that should free up space,,big space offender is ringtones, third party applications and pictures, not on memory card. Hope you find your memory.
