"Resetting" will erase your drive.
Copy your music to another storage device...external hard drive or online backup storage...then wipe your computer drive, then run the resetting program or manually reinstall software, then copy your music back to the newly loaded drive.

How to reset the hard disk


What do you mean reset the hard disk? There's no such thing. Exactly what is it that you are trying or wanting to do? What type of problem are you having that makes you think your hard disk needs resetting?

Are you talking about Formatting the Disk which wipes it out completely and makes it unusable until you reinstall the operating system?

Are you talking about doing a System Restore which takes your computer back to a certain date and time before you started having problem. And it keeps your documents, music, pictures, videos, programs (unless the program was installed after the date you selected).

Are you talking about a System Recovery which sets your computer back to the first time you brought it home after you purchased it. You will lose all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and program that you installed.

This thing does not work always says ok to disconnect


When the mp3 player is connected to the computer, the only message it will generally give you is "OK to Disconnect" - this is normal.

Once you disconnect the mp3 player from the computer, then you can find your music, listen to music, etc.

If you are getting the "OK to Disconnect" message when the mp3 player is already disconnected from the computer:

Reset the player first.

If that fails:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

Can't remove music off my mp3 to replace it with new music


Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Nokia 5320 music player


I have 5320 and the same problem, I tried to do factory reset (many times), format the MicroSD, changed the MicroSD and the problem still there. So I reset my phone using this code *#7370# and the problem has gone. It is soft reset code.

Wont turn on


You can reset the player without losing the music, but Repairs and firmware Updates will result in songs being erased.

Make sure the hold/lock switch is not activated.
If it is not, then try a different USB port on your computer.

If you get the same result:

Documentation is available from zune website - use Windows Media Player to delete songs - click on song name and press "delete"; you do not have to keep it in "My Music," but you must manually go in and change the configuration in Windows Media Player to search for the new folder on the external hard drive IF the external is permanently connected to the computer - otherwise, you will not have to alter the configuration

Music is lost


These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.
