Question about Projection Televisions

Bulbs - Sony KP EF41SN2

I have a Sony KP EF41SN2 rear projection tv and have been advised the bulbs have blown.
The "symptoms" were that the tv wont turn on and the standby light flashes red.
Can you advise if you would agree the bulbs are blown where the best place to get these would be??
Thanks heaps..

Re: Bulbs - Sony KP EF41SN2

Well, those are really called CRT tubes and are way more expensive than your average bulb. I would not recommend fiixing a 7 or 8 year old (is that right?) projection TV with bad CRTs

The bulbs are all working. The picture has shrunk into a saddle shape. The focus is off.

Symptom shows tv got convergence output chips failure problem, this tv has two big convergence output ICs/ chips on D board that will be replaced to get back correct picture.

I have a Sony KP-61XBR-300 rear projection tv---- Picture went out. Is this the light bulb and if so where is located. Can I get it out myself?

This is a projection TV: it uses cathode ray tubes instead of bulbs. If you have a black screen, but still have sound, then the problem is on one of the circuit boards. Very few parts are available for this model.

Your TV requires service and cleaning of screen, mirror and 3 lenses (of CRTs) as looks dusty.
Below is an exploded view how to take off front beznet assembly of this TV to clean inside with moist cotton cloth.
Unplug TV before taking off front of TV.

I have never heard of two CRts being shorted at the same time. I would suggest calling another shop as They are most likely trying to take advantage of you. Go to the following link and leave an email indicating your model number and one of their techs will email you back and ask you to explain your symptoms.
heres the link.
