Replaced the ink absorber now get a 5B00 error. Tried menu, scan, copy, scan - no luck. tried power and reset, going thru eeprom settings, no luck

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

did that. even un-did the power supply for about 30 minutes

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

it won't allow you to do that. power on, runs thru startup sequence, then printer error, 5B00, menu button beeps, sso scan copy and fax

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

several beeps when you press once

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

    three

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

None of the previous suggestions have worked.

  • mmarlow Nov 13, 2009

Ink pads were full. Replaced them. now get the 5B00 error. Have gone thru a litany of routines to no avail.

    Here is the correct solution:

How to reset Canon MX310 5B00 error
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Holding the stop/reset button, press and hold power button also.

    VERY IMPORTANT!!
Hold both buttons together for 5 secs.

    3. Still holding the power button, release the stop/reset buton, then press the stop/reset button twice.
    4. Release power button (the screen should now say 'Service Mode'). - This may take a minute or two.
    5. Wait until the power button lights steady green, then press the stop/reset button four times with a 3 sec space between each press. On the 4th press the indicator should turn steady green.
    8. Press the power button, and wait until printer has shut down.
    9. Press power button to power up. The printer will feed one piece of paper.

Hi,

Your error means the waste ink pads are full, its recommended you get them replaced but they should hold out for a bit. to get the printer going again you can follow these steps and reset the counter.

1) With the printer power turned off, while pressing the Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the Power button.
(DO NOT release the buttons. The Power LED lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.)
2) While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (DO NOT release the Power button.)
3) While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button 2 times, and then release both the Power and
Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light
alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green, starting with Alarm LED.)
4) When the Power LED lights in green, press the Resume/Cancel button the specified number of time(s)according to the function listed in the table below. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and
Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in green, starting with Alarm LED.)

Good luck.

Basically you need to reset the printer. this is done by unplugging the power cord for about 30 minutes then applying power again. if this does NOT reset it let me know.

there are actually three methods to try. do each once and it should reset with one of the methods. canon is abit vague on the correct methods.

    Waste Error Reset:

    1: Power off printer
2: Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
3: Hold POWER and release RESUME
    4: Press RESUME twice
    5. Release Power button
6: When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME three(3) times. The indicator should be orange.
7: Press Power to set data

    or

    1. Press and hold the POWER button
    2. Turn off the printer by disconnecting the printer power cable,
    3. turn on the printer, still holding the POWER button
The indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
    4. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator (L.E.D.) should be orange.
    5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator (L.E.D.) should be green.
    6. Release both buttons.
    7. Reconnect the printer cable.
    8. And it should be reset.

Hello.

From the Canon site, to reset your printer, try:

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
Hope this helps.

Canon MX340 5B00 error

Error 5B00 refers to the ink absorbers being full. This is a massive job to replace them as they are in the bottom of the machine so the whole engine needs to be removed to fit new ones. Also special software is needed to remove the warning. Its a job for a canon agent. Its a big big and very messy job.

Srri.
By the way the kit you require has a canon part number of QY5-0192.
