To program the keyless entry, first locate the smart/learn button. On the chain drive models, this button is on the end farthest from the door. On the belt and screw drive models, it is on the right side as you face the door from the opener. You simply press and release the smart/learn button. You now have 30 seconds to enter your four digit PIN number into the keypad and hold the enter button for five seconds. Wait one minute and test the keyless entry by entering your four-digit PIN number and pressing enter.

With some Security+ models, you can also program your Model 940CB Wireless Keyless Entry without climbing a ladder, right from your Multi-Function Control Panel. Simply enter your pre-selected code and press and hold the enter button on your Keyless Entry. Then press and hold the light button and the pushbutton on your Multi-Function Control Panel. The garage door opener lights will flash to confirm that the Keyless Entry has been successfully programmed.

To program the keypad, first unplug the garage door opener from the electrical outlet. Next, remove the nameplate from the console that the keypad plugs into and locate the program/operate switch. Flip the switch to program. Next, enter your desired four-digit PIN number into the keypad. Slide the switch back to operate, and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad should be programmed. Light flashes on gargage door and it will not close, but it opens

Maybe it's the safety device that prevents the door closing if there is an obstruction. Many of these have a reflector mounted near the floor on one side and an infrared light on the other side. If either end it obstructed, the door won't close.

I have a Craftsman keyless gargage door opener model 031D0431. We just moved in and would like directions on how to recode the keyless entry. One more question...if I recode the keyless entry, do I have...

Coding the keypad will not affect the remotes if you follow these directions.

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in a four digit code and press enter.

I have a 3/4 hp Sears craftman gargage door opener. The chain moves, but the door will not go up or door. How do you engage the door???? Thank you

Sounds like the two halves of the trolley are disconnected. Pull straight down on the rope and release. Usually you can now run the opener and the two halves will connect but sometimes you need to move the door manually.

You might possibly have held the smart/learn button in too long and erased the code for the remote. Hold the button down on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button. This should program it for the remote. Now make sure the keypad is still working.

Liftmaster Professional and Clicker Programming Problems

The Security+ system is a rolling code system and is digital, so it will work with the Homelink in vehicles and with the remote control units that come with the opener. Also with new remotes that are purchased specifically for that opener. Your "clickers" require specific instructions and you need to use the Smart Learn function in order to use them with this opener. In addition, check the Brand Switch settings to be sure they apply to your opener, and the correct Smart Button color on the opener. Read carefully to determine whether you need to set ANY dip switches at all or can you just set them all to off depending on your opener? Check the instructions carefully. Here's a link to the page where you can download a copy of the Clicker instructions if you don't already have it:
