I want to run a compression test on my MTD riding lawn mower. It has a Tecumseh OHV130 engine. What is the compression level I should find if all is running okay ?

you start on a base line as every engine has a different compression. you do a cold test and mark the compression on a bit of paper, then to an 3 to 4 drop of oil in the cylinder and check its compression. any more than 5% difference then there is a problem. then do the same test with upto temp engine.anything near to 80 psi should be fine.

1993 nissan quest wont start after over heating

Overheating will damage the head gasket and the cylinder head.
Insufficient compression in the cylinders due to leaks and the engine will not start. To begin with run a compression check on all cylinders and then any cylinder with compression not at spec run a leak down test to see where the compression loss is going.

My seat Ibiza s 1.4 cut out in the wet ain't started since iv been told there is no compression wen I'm turning the key its like it ain't catching

vehicles need three things to run. Spark / Fuel / and Compression. If it's true that there is no compression, the engine will not start. Run a compression test and verify there is compression. This is always the first thing you should do when diagnosing why an engine wont start.Good luck and most of all have fun and don't give up

WHY DO I HAVE NO COMPRESSION WHEN PULLING THE PULL CORD

Yes, you squirt oil into the cylinders and then re-run compression test. If the compression comes up then the rings are bad. If not it is in the valves. A variation of 5 lbs. between cylinders indicates burned or stuck valves.

What is the Compression supposed to be for a 1987 Toyota Pick up 22R with carb, 4 cyl.???

A new engine would be about 180 psi for each cylinder. As the miles add up and wear occurs, compression will get lower. The important thing is that compression is even and balanced-lowest compression reading should be within 75% of the highest cylinder's compression. Some Toyota engines had a minimum allowable compression of about 135 psi, but if compression is balanced, you could have average compression as low as 125 psi and engine would still run good, some loss of power but still acceptable, and oil consumption would not be that bad.
If cylinder compression is below 120 psi as an average, you should be looking into a rebuild event-rings and valves need attention. If any cylinder is below 100 psi, it may not even fire, certainly will produce no power, and could be a head gasket failure, very worn rings, or valve problems.
Remember the important thing is to find compression readings that are very close to each other. I have an '87 Sentra with 75,000 miles(true!)-lowest comp. is 160, highest is 165 psi-runs great, good power. Also a '79 Datsun pickup (with god only knows how many miles-about 200,000 maybe). Compression is about 125-135 psi, fairly well balanced-noticeable loss of power, very little oil burning, still runs fair to good-dependable, at least.
That should give you an idea of what to look for. Good luck.

My Frigidaire Model # FRS26LF7DS7 is not cooling!

Could be a few problems. What I would do is check to see if the compresser is running by pulling out the fridge and pulling the back panel off and putting your hand on the compresser. If it Is vibrating then it is running. If it is not vibrating but very hot then the compresser is dead and needs to be replaced. If the compresser Is cool and not running I would say the thermostat inside the fridge is dead(bad contacts in the control). If the compresser is running but no cooling, the cap tube which is the metering device for the refrigerant into the freezer evaperator could be plugged off. Or if none of the lines off of the compresser are hot or cold then the valves inside the compresser are gone and compresser needs to be replaced hope this helps

I have an xr250r 1996 but wen i kick start it thers no compression but can run start it sweet and theres heaps of compression how can i fix this problem

First , check your compression with a compression tester. It should be at least 100 pounds pressure just to run. Preferably 120,130,140,etc.. Some motorcycles have a decompression cable that works off the kick lever, others have a decompression lever you hand operate. I believe yours is hand operated . I think the actual lever in the valve cover on top of the motor is sticking or the decompression cable itself is hanging up and not allowing the exhaust valve to close properly.

Dead cylinder. good spark (plug&wires),compression, fuel .Has an engle 110 cam and comp elec. points.Every thing else is stock, duel carb set up 40 cadron solix.

Vacuum leak? You said compression is good. You checked crankning compression, did you check running compression. A broken valve spring would cause good cranking compression but very low running compression
