Dryer heats but clothes wont dry and have checked lint screens front and back. How much "air flow" should be coming out the back of the dryer?

Do not use this dryer until you fix it. You need to check the pipe or flexible tube that comes out of your dryer (where the hot air comes out). Even though you clean your dryer lint trap some lint gets by. If you can get to it, go outside and find the opening where the dryer air comes out of your house. Then open the little door and look inside but not when the dryer is running. If there is any lint inside clean it out. Then disconnect the air outlet from the back of the dryer and inspect. It should be free of lint. If it is full of lint clean it all out. You can also call a pro to perform the inspection and cleaning. Good luck.

How do u know if the heating coil is bad?

If you are feeling any heat at all when you place your hand by the air vent in the back, your element is at least partially working. We must determine if your model has a single or double element. If you have a double, perhaps only one side is working. To determine this, I will need the model number located under the lid or on the back of the unit.
If you have NO hot or warm air, it may be your element or the thermal fuse. Need model number.
But before we do that...
The most common cause of this is just a simple build up of lint. No matter how well you clean the lint filter during use, lint does build up and may require cleaning every few years or so. If you do have some warm or hot air and it seems to take two cycles to dry your clothes, try these simple checks (unplug dryer):
1. Insure that your vent hose is not clogged with lint. Unhook it on both ends and see if you can see through it. If there is a blockage, remove lint, reconnect and you should be fine. 2. Insure that the flaps on the vent outside of your house are free of lint and can open and close freely. If they are upstructed, clean. If they do not open or are bent, you may need to replace the vent. 3. Pull out your lint screen and see what you see? Lint build up? Take a coat hanger and bend it to stick into the lint trap well. Can you pull out any lint? Pull out as much as you can. Also look into the vent on the there lint inside? Use your hanger. This may involve opening the top of the unit, or pulling off the front to clean. But let's get the model number before you get that far.
Write me back with model number or let me know if cleaning the hose and/or vent help. I look forward to assisting you.

Lint screen holder is full of lint

Yes, clean it out immediately. The lint screen should pull right out with no screws holding it. It should be cleaned every other load!

first pull it away from the wall, then clean out the lint from the vent, then you will need to pull the front panel off, you should find 2 screws inside the door opening, and then you will need to pop loose the tabs from the bottom

Odor around the lint trap, cleaned but persists

The lint trap is an opening into the dryer vent and vent pipe. The dryer needs to be pulled out from the wall, the vent pipe disconnected and then the back of the dryer and the entire pipe cleaned of lint and other debris. this is the only way to get rid of the odor.

I opened dryer and found burned lint. There was about a half inch of material around the heating elements that had also started to burn.

clean the lint out and make sure the coil is undamaged. dryers need to be taken apart and lint cleaned out once in a while. also clean the exhaust line out real good as too much lint can increase the back pressure, not letting all the lint out of the unit.
