Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Whirlpool dryer model LER4634J...will heat fine for 3 or 4 loads in a row, then may not heat for a couple cycles. then work fine again. when i run it i use the heavy/60 min. cycle. when it drys it works excellent, loads are usually dry after 1 cycle. also it may work fine for several days with no problems at all, then this problem will happen. or this may happen every other load. also, when this problem happens i have checked the circuit breakers and they are not "tripped". so i am thinking it is "internal". thanks for the help.

Possible timer, or electrical issue in wall receptacle.be sure wall venting is perfectly clear w/no hinderance to air movement whatsoever .try removing vent hose off dryer for a couple of loads,to bypass venting completely just for testing. otherwise the safety thermostats or cycling t-stats may be in question

Dryer takes 2 or 3 cycles to dry

A Whirlpool dryer either heats or doesn't heat . This problem is an indication of a blocked vent hose , from the rear of the dryer to the outside vent outlet . Try removing the vent hose from the back of the dryer and dry a load , to verify this problem . Wet lint inside the hose also means the air cannot escape to the outside .

My dryer takes 2 to 3 cycles to dry my clothes.

Check the following areas to combat this issue. in most cases, this will be a Venting issue.

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

Loads have to run through high heat cycle twice to get completely dry. It was drying completely with one run through any cycle.

have you checked your wall vent hole and dryer vent hole to make sure they are clear?if there not it will keep the hot wet air from coming out and take forever to dry,let me know-mike

Dryer runs but will not heat. Replaced fuse and

your cycling thermostat needs changed too. the thermal fuse is your last safety measure that goes, which means your cycling thermostat is not shutting down the heat element once it detects the right temp hot air in the blower housing so it let the heat element glow until either the high-limit sensor shuts the heat down or the thermal fuse blows. Change the cycling thermostat and good luck
