Question about Dell Inspiron 1100 Notebook
You most likely have an inverter or the LCD backlight has failed. To troubleshoot this at home, plug in an external monitor to your laptop and toggle the display over to that, and see if you have a good picture.
To do this, usually you have to hold down the function key on your laptop, and then hit the LCD/CRT button, which is usually one of your function keys on the top row.
