packaging cooking times is only a guide... not exact

must be an electric range if it slow cooking

I have a Kenmore Elite Double Oven Range Model 790.9750. It's just 2 years old. It has been burning food only in the middle of the left side of the upper oven. Nothing cooks correctly because that

Check your door seal by doing a paper-pull test. If the paper pulls out easily on one side and not the other, then you found your problem. You might be able to "tweak" the door, but be careful - if you twist the door too much, you could break the glass. The other (and safer) solution is to replace the door seal. Another thing that could cause uneaven heating would be an element that has a "hot spot", but this is rare. Finally, if the insulation of the oven cavity was done improperly at the factory, that could also cuase uneven heating, but this is even rarer than an element with a hot spot. In all my 9 years of servicing ranges, I only encounter this cause 1 time. Ussually it's a damaged or compressed door seal.

Why did my whirlpool microwave display quit, everything else works. less than 2 years old

Over the range ovens of all brands are prone to failure of the electronics due to heat and steam from the food that's cooked on the range below them. It's not extremely common, but you do see more of these types of failures on these as opposed to counter top models.

Oven not cooking at correct temperature & loses heat

Had a similar issue - but my unit is eight years old. Turns out my issues were my oven ignitors were failing and one of the burners had corroded causing the flame to only light on one side. To fix I replaced two ignitors (apparently they are to be replaced every 3-5 years) and cleaned the burner with a brass wire brush. If you are handy the ignitors are easy to replace - one screw and two wires each. Burner was one screw to remove.

Ceramic ignitors if wearing out can cause delayed lighting of the oven burners and/or reduce the gas flow - hence not heating up.

That was my experience ....

I just moved into a house and the GE oven appears to be approx. 16 years old. The oven will not cook between 300 and 450 degrees. It will either undercook or burn the food.

16 Years old? Sounds like you need to buy a new one. One thing you don't want to do now is to start putting lots of money into an old appliance.

its your magnatron tube, that is what makes the microwaves. the part # 492603, you can order it at it should cost $100-150, if the micro is more than 6 years old I might not fix it.

Oven does not cook food fully.

I researched the Repair site and for the unit in question it drove me to the Bake Ignitor Glow Bar as being the problem. It is 90% sure the problem lays in this part and instructs to R&R the part.

Broiler element sparked fire, is the oven safe to use?

any food with an oil base will catch fire on a heating element, it will be fine to use but try to keep food from spilling out towards any heat source, use a try to collect any food drippings or a tray with vents if doing potatoes this will minimize any food dripping on the elements. it will smell for a while on the first cook as the oil will still be present on the element but it will soon burn off.

GE gas stove

sounds like a bad bake ignitor(uneven heat, long cook times, long preheat times, perhaps even gas smell while cooking)as far as the heat from under the clock assy thats the normal vent( nedds to release heat somewhere, not a problem
