Not an uncommon warning sign of a failing main power supply.
Listen at the rear of the unit for the (quiet) sound of a fan. If you don't hear one, the supply may just be shutting down from heat. If you do hear a fan, read the tip I paste below if you want to proceed with some troubleshooting. -------- Since you do have both audio and video briefly, this indicates that the more complex section of your set is working.
The assembly that most affects these two equally is the power supply and this is a common failure in all too many of more recently built TVs.
The supply is normally built on a separate board since these are often out-sourced by set manufacturers.

Unplug your set overnight to allow potentially hazardous voltages to discharge, remove the back panel of the set so you can see the guts.
Look for a smaller board with larger parts on it; some cylindrical (capacitors), others block-like and relatively large (chokes and transformers).
You should also see a relationship between the board and the incoming AC.
Check the board for a label or if not present, a stamped-on number.
Call the manufacturer's service center with your TV model number and the number found on that board and inquire about repair/replacement costs; if both are offered, they won't be that much different.
If you must buy a new board, don't dispose of the failed one as there are smaller companies that can repair it for less than the mfr. and then keep it as a spare as this problem will likely arise again.

What to do to fix my tablet that won't stay on after releasing the power button

If it doesn't stay on , you may have a broken battery . If you're out of warranty, somebody has to open the device and replace the logic board. The part is available on ebay. On youtube you will find a guide on how to disassemble an Insignia tablet. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have somebody do it for you there are third party Insigina Repair Services.

My phone will not stay on it turns on and it goes off... it will not stay on and go to home page> HELP!!!!!

If it does this while plugged in, I would factory reset the device. iPhones you reset while connected to a computer with iTunes. Android you usually power off the device, tap the power button then immediately press and hold (power + vol up) or (power + vol down) until you get a menu. Use the vol buttons to navigate and the power button to select the factory reset option.

Will not stay on

Have you tried plugging it into a different power point in your house?
If that doesn't make it stay on it is most likely a power supply issue with the receiver. More often than not it is cheaper to replace a receiver with a broken power supply than to pay someone to fix it.

Just got Verizon 755p - can the power stay on while charging?

Try StOIC (Stay On In Cradle):

http://mytreo.net/downloads/stoic-stay-on-in-cradle,221.html

It's free and it works - the screen will stay on whenever the Treo is connected to charging power (e.g., in the cradle).

Enjoy!
