It is a Optical Grade Cooling Fluid that is pretty much standard in most Rear Projection CRTs. It can be purchased from Electronic Parts Wholesalers such as Encompass Elect. Their phone number is 1800-638-3328. Toshiba does not have a procedure for refilling or replacing the fluid due to it's toxic nature. It is absorbent to the skin and you do not want it in your body. If the fluid leaked out of the CRT, the seal of the Optic Coupler has failed and it is not replaceable according to Toshiba. The CRT must be replaced. Encompass Elect would also be able to help you get the right CRT. It will be a expensive part. I estimate it to be around 300.00 to 400.00.
If you do choose to do it your self , I recommend to get a Service Manual down loaded from
so you have a dis assembly and reassembly chart.
You will also have a Convergence Procedure you will need to go through for the CRT you are replacing in both NTSC mode and HD mode if applicable.
I hope this helps,

Toshiba 57h82 has sound but no picture. Power light comes on and does not blink. I believe the TV was left on for a long period of time. What should I check for?

1)Make sure the ventilation slots are clear of dust and debris.
2)listen for odd sounds from within the housing. snaps, crackles and pops are not good sounds.
3)Make sure the fans are running
4)Remove the lamp, following the instructions in your manual. Do not touch any part of the glass lamp!!!!!!!
One sign of a bad lamp is a blackened base of the arc chamber(the tube inside the lamp.)
There is really no way to test arc lamps except send it to the mfr.

Good luck! let me know if you figure it out.

I have lines on my TV when it first turns on and when it warms up they go away. I think the projector lamp is going bad and was wonder if I could replace the lamp myself and which lamp would fit my Toshiba...

this is known as hyperboard or hypermodule problem. Now toshiba knows about this problem (common) and has issued repair instructions for service centers. The bad news is this repair is quite labor intesive. When this fault first occured the thing to do was to replace the cuircit board. as time went by the board became more difficult to find. So the discovered and intructed how to fix this board on the component level. The repair involves removeing the board. This board involves removing alot to get to it. Then replaceing 11 micro capacitors. Let me just say it takes very experience tech some time and a large magnifer with twezers a few hours to do this. i have repaired a few and i still have trouble. it is very easy to damage the board. IT CAN BE FIXED and labor cost might add up. our shop repaired about 2 of these of month for around 300 and most of that was labor if you choose not to fix it it might last 6 months or a year.

The picture on my Toshiba 57H82 model went out. What Type of bulb do I buy and how do I change it?

if you type in "toshiba 57h82" in a google search, the page should show you a list of lamps of veriuos stores with variuos prices. Now to change it, can have a great resource of information about how to change the lamps. In youtube, just type in DLP lamp replacement. You may not find one on your set, but after whatching a few of the videos, you should have a working knowledge how to change it yourself. Just remember not to touch the front part of the lamp with bare hands. the oils in your body can cause premature damage to the lamp. Use rubber gloves. Cheap ones for a dolor store will work fine.
