Unplug the dryer.
The easiest way to check the belt is remove the plate on the lower rear of the dryer. Look in to see if the belt is attached around the pulley wheel.
The only way to change the belt is to remove the screws in the front panel. Open the door. Look up in the door opening and remove these screws. Then you can raise the lid.
If the belt needs changing you must remove the 2 screws in the top right and left sides of the front panel.Just inside the front panel. Then disconnect the door switch wires and remove the front panel.
Slip the belt over the drum. Then open the lower rear panel to reach in to put the belt around the tension pulley.

Dryer won't start. Checked all I knew...

Model Number and Brand would be helpful. A couple of possibilities assuming ALL your tests were accurate. One would be a bad motor and another would be a "belt Switch" which is a switch that sits on the floor of the dryer near the motor and opens when the belt is broken or the switch has failed. You can do a continuity test on the switch but the motor is more difficult and may be beyond the capabilities of all but a technician.

Live voltage testing with the wiring diagram would be the easiest way to find the faulty component but I suggest you call for service as that would be dangerous without the requisite knowledge.Good Luck

Dryer won't turn anymore. Machine does come on and warm air is blowing

Probably a broken drive belt or the belt slipped the pulley. Not the easiest repair to make, but if you have the parts breakdown picture from the manual you should be able to figure out how to replace the belt (which costs about 12 bucks

Roper dryer won't start

Since you did not post a model number it is difficult to determine what features your dryer has. However, here are some of the most common causes of a dryer that will not start:

1. Blown Thermal Fuse. Located on the blower fan assembly and is a white plastic looking component with two wires on it. A measurement across the fuse should read a short (0 ohms) if good. Make sure all measurements are taken with the dryer unplugged and the wires disconnected from the fuse.

2. Broken dryer belt. Some dryers are equipped with a broken belt switch that will shut the dryer off in the event of a broken belt. This prevents the belt from wrapping around the drive motor shaft. You will need to open the dryer and do a visual check to determine if the belt is still in one piece around the drum.

3. Broken door latch. You can usually tell if the latch is working properly by leaving the door open and toggling it with your hand. If the drum light shuts off when depressed, more than likely you don't have a door latch problem.

4. Bad centrifugal switch on the drive motor. The drive motor has a centrifugal switch that engages when the motor begins to spin. Some dryer motors have a separate centrifugal switch that can be replaced, while others have an internal switch which requires the entire replacement of the drive motor.

5. Bad drive motor. Commonly caused by failure of the internal centrifugal switch or bad motor windings. I have found the main connector plug on the motor loose at times causing the dryer to fail too.

6. Bad start switch on the control panel.

7. Bad control board on the control panel (if equipped). Not all dryers have a control board. Some only use a simple start switch.

I hope I've given you enough items to think about. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please post back with your model number so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps.

Stuck on Sensing

Fixed! I opened up the top of the dryer (which can be done by simply removing three screws on the back of the unit and then sliding the top back and up) and found that the dryer belt was snapped in half. There is a belt tensioner near the motor that has a switch in it and will not allow the dryer to start if there is no tension on the belt. I was able to change the belt by myself for only $10, but it was not the easiest thing to do so calling a service shop would be recommended.

kenmore dryers are the easiest dryers to work on. unplug! remove 2 screws @lint screen top. insert screrwdriver under top @ each end and pop top up. disconect wires to door panel. remove 2 5/16 screws at each end inside. lift front door panel up and out.( the bottom of the panel is held by spring clips. replace belt if broke. remove drum if not and check rollers. note: belt route at idler pulley.
