Why did it go in the shop anyways? Was it being painted?Ive never removed a dryer to repair it un less it was to be painted. What are you saying about red hot coil?If this is a 220Volt dryer than yes the coils get red hot, thats normal. The repairman is most likely responsible if it caught fire in any way!Sounds un believable to me.

Power indicator lights up but there is no power

Remove exhaust hose. Clean out lint. Remove back of dryer. Clean lint out of air flow system including lint and heat unit(coils). Try dryer. Is heat element glowing red hot? If not, replace heat element. They burn out intermittently and need lots of air flow to have good life. Clogged lint traps shorten life cycles. Definitely a DIY project. See youtube for general process.

My kenmore 800 series dryer gets way to hot, why is that? how do I test the thermostat/ thermister?

You may have lint build up somewhere I side the dryer. You may need to open up the dryer and clean out the old lint.

I have a Frigidaire stackable full-size washer/dryer. I don't have the model number, but it is about eight years old. The dryer does not get hot enough to dry even a small load well.

When was the last time you cleaned out your vent? It should be done every 1-2 years to prevent build-up of lint and possible blockage. Also make sure your outside dryer vent flap is not stuck closed or clogged. I use a plumbers snake to twist inside the vent and clean out the lint. It makes a huge difference in drying time. Also disconnect the vent from behind the dryer and check for lint build-up inside the back of the dryer itself. (Be sure to unplug the dryer before you do this!) When you push the dryer back, be careful not to squish or pinch the dryer vent if it is a flexible foil or plastic tube. These are the easy fix-it's. Try them first before resorting to more expensive trouble shooting. Douglas

It gets hot but doesnt dry

you will need to remove the front cover,by removing 2 kick panel screws at the base of the front of the machine, remove front cover and make sure blower wheel is turning,if so,then remove any heating ductwork and vacuum out all lint, this sounds like a restriction inside the machine for air flow
