Question about Sanyo PLC XP18N Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

Bulb is getting quite dim and MUST be replaced! HOWEVER: I have purchased 2 new bulbs, which both exhibit the following symptom: After powering fully on, it remains on for about 90 seconds, dims significantly, then shuts off. The old bulb still functions properly when swapped back in. What's happening?

    One is not Sanyo, the other is Sanyo. I have reset the lamp timer, but problem persists.

    So does the new bulb run hotter than the old bulb, and some thermal sensor shuts machine down? (Since old bulb still works fine - just dimmer).

    If so, do you know if this is a "user-serviceable" component?

Hi,

You may need to reset the lamp counter.

Go into menu>settings>lamp age>lamp counter reset > yes.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

    Hi,

    If you have tried to reset the lamp counter using all the bulbs then i am in no doubt that the projector is coming to the end of its life or needs to go in for repair.

    The only other thing you can do at this stage is clean the lens.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

    Most part are serviceable but can be costly to replace or repair.

    The bulbs should all run at the same temperature, a lower temperature if they are dim.

    See if there is a full reset in the projectors menu and try that.

Are you sure that replacement bulbs are Sanyo original and not alternative/ aftermarket.
Also reset lamp/ bulb timer in projector after replacing lamp, procedure would be written in user manual.
Let me know further question if any.
Thanks.

    Please confirm new bulbs in any other similar projector because if its problem of projector, it will show error and shut off right away.
    Thanks.

My Samsung tv is dim; has sound and we can see the tv its just very dim. Its not a setting; we already chevjed that.

If the TV unit that you have is a DLP than a bulb in the rear is the likely culprit and is burning out. The bulbs lasts for thousands of hours but over that period the light output reduces.

The procedure for replacing is relatively simple. Use good safety procedures including disconnecting the power cord. My suggestion is you purchase a very good quality replacement bulb installed into the module. You want the brightest bulb to get the best results,

I have a 55in Samsung Dlp the color looks good but a little dark can't see picture if the movie is dark

You might need a new bulb, the bulbs get dim as there life diminishes. Replace the bulb to get a bright picture. Do not use cheap bulbs, an OEM bulb for that tv should be $60+. . Cheap clone bulbs will work but will fail a lot sooner

I have a Mitsubishi WD-65735 model TV. The screen is getting really dim, or dark. I was thinking it might be the bulb, but want to make sure before I spend the money on it

Hello,

Yes, it is obviously the bulb. The symptom of your TV is related to that of the bulb. You guessed right.

Go ahead and replace the bulb. Don't fret. It the screen will come back to normal once you replace the bulb.

Your sincerely.

SCREEN SUDDENLY WENT DIM

One of 2 things happened....
1) You Blew the Power Inverter... The Power inverter is a thin rectangular circuit board that plugs into the display panel cable and also powers the LCD Bulb.. If This Part Fails - You Lose Light to the Display even though the display will still be on and viewable against a bright light....

2) The LCD Bulb is Faulty... When the LCD Bulb Fails it will typically give pre-warning signs- though not always.... It will give signs like the whole screen has a light orange or pinkish tone to it, but eventually it will blow and no light at all to the Display Panel....

Both Of These Are Repairable....

The Power Inverter Can Be Purchased Off of Ebay, For Around $15 to $30

The LCD Bulb Itself is also Replaceable.. Though It is a Job Only to Be Performed By An Experienced Laptop Tech... Bulbs as well can be bought off of ebay for a few bucks..

A torque bit screw driver are a philips screw driver should be all you need. JUST MAKE SURE NOT THE TOUCH THE BULB (new bulb) WITH YOUR FINGERS. Your body oil will make the bulb burn out quick!!!! Wear rubber gloves when installing the new bulb. f one is dim, you better change both sides. are the other side will also be dim.

HEADLIGHTS

Hi,

A couple of suggestions:
1. Check/replace the bulbs;
2. Check/clean the connectors;
3. Check/clean/replace the fuse;
4. Check/clean headlight relays.

Often the problem that exhibits dim headlight is loose grounding. The three wires that leads to each headlight bulb would be for low, high and ground.m You need to trace the ground wire and determine if the other end is grounded properly. A quick fix is to add a grounding strap/wire to the appropriate wire/connector of each headlight bulb with the other end to the chassis/body of the vehicle.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
