Question about HP Compaq nx7300 Notebook

1 Answer

My Compaq nx7300 computer does not charge and I know that it is not because of the adapter. The adapter works. Might the problem be only dc power adapter?

Usually when it's not charging and the adapter is working what happens is that the charging circuit on your laptop might need to be checked or faulty or the power socket on your laptop might be faulty as well

My new battery will not hold a charge

Either the charge circuit in the laptop is faulty or the mains adapter is faulty.
When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

My new laptop battery is not charging

Maybe the battery is bad. Just because it's new does not mean it will work.

Does your laptop power on and work with the AC Adapter and Power Cord? If not, that is why your battery is not charging. You need a New AC Adapter & Power Cord or the DC Jack where the Power Cord plugs into the laptop is bad or broken.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Problems with the ac smart adapter Hp Compaq 6910p

You could possibly have a loose dc jack.Being able to wiggle it around and getting it to work tells me that the jack is probally going out. That wiggling your doing can cause an arc on your system board, which can short out your board.Stop wiggling your power supply adapter in your dc jack and take your computer to certified repair shop and have your jack checked.Best to rule this out first ,so no damage is done to your board. If you jack test good ,then replace you power supply....Good luck

I have HP Compaq nx7300. no power, no charging

Most power supplied in HP machines are not very good. You will need a new one. If you have a differant cord try that first. If it is bad then order one. they can be obtained for under 50.00 US.

New mother board installed and new battery still does not recongize battery. Must run with Ac adapter all the time.

Its obvious the problem is in the power supply of the laptop or the Dc controller, board and battery has nothing to do with that part.

My HP nx7300 will not power up. The LED doesn't even come on when I plug it into the AC supply

You could have a faulty power adapter or the power input socket on the laptop is faulty. Check the power adapter plug that plugs into the laptop with a multi-meter. The voltage reading should be slightly higher that the voltage that is printes on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If you get a zero or low voltage reading then the adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then the power socket on the laptop is faulty, it may only need to be soldered due to a dry solder joint or replaced if faulty. To check if it is a loose connection, wriggle the plug in the socket and observer the charge LED, if it flickers on and off, then the power socket may oly needs resoldering. This requires the laptop to be dismantled to get access to the power socket.

Hp compaq laptop no power

hmmm,

you 1st need to confirm that your mains adapter is working properly, does the charging light on your laptop come on when plugged in? if it does, then good.

you should be able to cancel hibernate mode by holding the power button for about 10-15 secs

hopefully this will then allow you to power up as normal,

I don't like Hibernate mode myself as I have had previous problems with it and I tend to disable my laptop from hibernating.

if the charging led does not light when you plug in your laptop the it is possible that you have a faulty Power adapter or power controller circuit.

hope this helps

Power adapter

sounds like this may be a manufacturing fault. especialy if it repetedly occurs.

you should take this up with compaq as it may be a mainboard issue that is causing the power adapter to blow.

hopefully they should repair/replace.

Compaq Presario 1200 won't charge battery

dear N9YK

you can follow this

If you have a loose connection where you plug in the power on your laptop, or it works intermittently, you could have a bad dc jack. Symptoms
  • Move the power plug and the laptop loses connection
  • Broken or cracked dc jack
  • Laptop won't charge but worked on battery
  • Power LED and battery LED flicker when the adapter tip is moved
  • Battery won't charge
  • Sparks come out the back of the laptop
Why does this happen?
  • Flaw in manufacturer designs
  • Use of universal or non-original ac adapter
  • Lots of plugging and unplugging of the ac adapter
  • Tripping on or pulling the ac adapter cord
or you can check your dc amper in your adaptor

oke

thx
